The only way to answer your question is for you to buy EACH OF ALL available combinations (3UG4, 3UG5, 4UG4 and 4UG5), try them all intensively then sell off the ones that you don't like. What you're asking is similar to asking us to recommend you the best underpants for your fitting and usage.
Either a 4UG5 or a 4UG4 at the moment. Can't decide which of the two I prefer just yet. Depends on how I want to play really.
To me is 4UG5 right now, cause i got small hands I wonder if 3UG5 could generate more power for me because of the weight but I need to consider the swing speed of a 4U too, I wonder...
for me I take 4U, tried the 3U and it's too head heavy for me as I have weak wrist/arm. If you are agile enough, sure 3U is a better option.
Actually, on average, the 4U is more head heavy than the 3U. With regards to the "best combination" for me, I had been using apacs rackets for quite a while, and they all came in "G2", which is Yonex equivalent "G5". Therefore, the 3UG5 VT80 has been perfect for me.
Just going by what everyone's been saying. If you read through this whole thread, there are quite a few people measuring the 4U's and 3U's and consistently finding that the 4U's have higher balance points.
Yesterday I played the Voltric 80. I had it for one badminton session (1 - 2 hours). The first impression that I made while holding the racket was: Huh? This is (light) head heavy? Really? It doesnt really feel like a head heavy racket. That was the first impression. After that I felt the head heaviness. It IS light head heavy and also noticable if holding the racket. Actually I'm testing a Nanospeed 8000. In comparison between NS8000 and VT80: VT80 feels much better. Especially smashes and clears are way easier to play with it. The NS8000 might have a slightly better control but this is maybe 'caused by the fact that I never played a head heavy racket (like VT80) before. And because of this fact I played many shuttles out or my drops went too short (before the net). Drives are OK, not superb, but quite ok. Net play is nothing special, easy to play. In comparison with the Arcsaber 10: Arcsaber 10 is more controllable. Is still slightly easier to play and the smashes are almost equivalent. All in all: VT80 is a nice candidate (for me!). I'm still testing which racket matches to me, so I'm continuing to test. (Actually testing: NS8000) (Next rackets to test: Arcsaber 10 (again), VT80) (Tested racket: NS7700, Arcsaber 10, NS8000, VT80) I'm an amateur player, no tournaments, no membership. Just playing with 1 - 2 friend(s) who are more or less on the same level. String was BG68TI, Racket was 4U and I believe that a 3U VT80 wouldnt be that easy to play. I think I would miss the "wow it feels so light and powerful together). BTW: Sorry for my english. If there are any mistakes, feel free to comment my mistakes
mine was NBG98 @26Lbs. But any YY BG66 would also perform best enough! Tension is entirely up to your preference.
As far as the 3U version goes, I'd be happy to take it into the low 30's - the hoop is very strong indeed.
Peter Gade uses the non-player specific DK coded racquets (the Danish player is DP code) and his tension is 32-34lbs with BG80. Surely anyone else can also use that tension.
high5 ^^ i can play with 26-27lbs but i don't have much energy to play (for instance... 45min+). So i chose a safe range of tension which i can produce strings of BOOMING smashes. And yup 24lbs with the Ultimax are 'personally' the best string and tension combination for me. My AT900P is only strung at 23lbs, that monstrous beast is my main racket.
