Hello.. I know of someone who likes to smash a lot. Well.. the shuttles he smashes always end up at some part of his opponent's body. Is that allowed?
Not only is it allowed but it is a strategy. Because it's harder to react and return such shots so close to the body.
Not only is it allowed, but it's fun as well; after you hit them point at him, laugh and shout "take that!". In doubles be sure to high-five your partner as well. Also, when you nearly miss them, be sure to say something like "darn, so close..." (note: only do that with close friends)
Smashing at the body is part of the competitive game. But discretion is strongly advised in social games, where skills and manners may vary widely. It isn't very sporting, for example, to drill the bird into grandma's face at the family picnic.
Lol I have seen a 12 year old boy net kill a shuttle into his own mother;s face at full force. With a distance of like 10 inches...ouch.
Oh cool.. I didn't know it's allowed in competitive level as well... Thanks for the information, guys!
well the main purpose of the game is to make yr opponent make mistake n fail to serve the shuttleback to yr court n 1 of method is to smash the shuttle into yr opponent. why? cos its harder for yr opponent to serve back under such circumstances but of course, u wont want every single play oso aim at yr opponent as if he own u a million dollar....rite?
It's even funnier if you smash at your own partner (in doubles). The look on their face would be priceless.
dodgy logic there. if he owe u a million dollar, you won't want to smash at him, if he dies you might never get your money back! (yes, my smash is that powerful!)
Did that Returned a really hard smash down the middle over my partner's head and she popped her head up ... And it was a really hard return LOL!!! I've hit her once every time she came to play And when I play with her sister... I hit her as well.... There is a gravitational force that draws my birds towards them LOL!!!
the best intentional one i have witness is when a guy got pissed at his partner, while he was returning a service, he hit the service return backwards towards his partner and the shuttle hits his partner tummy. it was so hard and accurate! it was kinda all for fun though everyone had a great laugh.
Ha Ha.... Is that your way of "hitting" on them? I find taking them out for coffee or dinner works better.
HAHAHAH!!! Coffee or dinner is too normal for a first impression... Gotta let them know whose calling the shots!
Laws of Badminton 13.3.5 . It is allowed. From the Laws of Badminton (13.3.5); It shall be a ‘fault’, if in play, the shuttlecock touches the person or dress of a player. Therefore, some players often try to get their opponents making this fault by directing the shuttlecock at some parts of their opponents' bodies/clothing (even at their hair). .
I usually smash on the body of my opponents whenever I get a chance. This gives me very good result also. Even if the smash mises the body I get poor return for a heavy smash often. All my body smashes are followed by "sorry".
Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word . You might as well sing to your opponent this song (Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word); http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2e4NlnLr28 .
