Just another of many confirmation of the bleak painting of INA badminton team...getting weaker and weaker. Even the presence of a Li Mao may not help much if there isn't a total awakening and reconstruction of the entire system... Nowadays even countries like Thailand & Japan are posing great challenges to INA Team

Yeah, almost all except Bona/Ahsan who advanced into last eight, straight-sets won over JPN pair Endo/Hayakawa. Tomorrow, seeded #2 Boe/Mogensen will be their opponent.

    MS Sho Sasaki [6] [JPN] - [JPN] Kazushi Yamada 21-13 21-16 0:42

WD Kyung Eun Jung [KOR] Ha Na Kim [KOR] - [KOR] Jung Eun Ha [7]

Aren’t you just a bit suspicious that losing to higher ranked teammates in double quick time?

3 matches between teammates that lasted just over an hour!

i have my pity on the MAS WD pair for being played the last, the only match left, to face the Chinese Great Wall. May the ordeal be quick and less painful :p:D

Totally agree about WX's style of play; a delight to watch! :D

However, don't agree that WSX is not effective. The plan is simple but effective: tire the opponent, demoralise them, and then run away with the rest of the points. I'd be surprised if she doesn't advance to maybe the finals. Besides, she can certainly smash if she needs to. If her defensive ability and court coverage is her forte and she needs to fine-tune it to the point of "impenetrable" it would make more sense to achieve that, than to try and develop a whole new (attacking) style that she is unfamiliar with.

It wasn't that Fu Mingtian was playing badly at all; to the contrary, she was playing real well; it's just that WSX was playing at a different level after the first interval, and had sorted out her opponent. Why expend energy smashing when you can smother your opponent? :D

Besides, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that ZN has worked out a strategy for WSX that keeps her "under wraps" until the time is right for China to use her to her full potential/effectiveness.

After her 2010 Uber Cup debacle and ultimate demotion by LYB, WYH reinvented herself as a more aggressive all-round player. Her style then was not dissimilar to WSX's grinding one and she was so reluctant to smash.

The WYH 2.0 version is truly great and coupled with the confidence of knowing this new aggressive approach works for her, her game has powered to new highs. She's not afraid of making mistakes as she is more than able to make it up with winners. Gotta say right now I'm really liking her.:)

    The Cookie crumbles for phil-mm

Saina edges Ayane 27-25 in G3. Yet another classic marathon that I need to download.

That suspiciously easy win over Aditi Mutatkar (well pointed out AlanY) sure came in handy.

Errr... who cares. KHN and JKE are way cuter and logically get the free pass to the next round. Makes good sense to me, hehe :p

Lol, what's with the bolding? I knew you couldn't help but take another swipe at me. But I'm really impressed with her performance. The old cookie would probably have lost something like 21-14. Saina's current form will be revealed tomorrow in the match against WYH.
