Lukewarm Reaction even when LCW wins

Just look at the stark contrast of reaction between CL and LCW when either of them wins. CL takes off his shirt, but LCW has no reaction whatsoever, like a stroll in the park!

A fair enough result, good for CL who's expression showed that he took it in stride, but a bad omen for CW despite his victory - it's going to get tougher and tougher for CW going forward.

Lin Dan,Lin Dan, where are you?-You better wake up, while this two rivals are slugging it out every now and then, sharpening their game.

LCW let out a hellish long shriek with a bad line call in decider game.

That's because CW felt relieved more than elation - he could have lost the match in two sets.

good finish of third game - i missed all the match starting to see only with 3rd set
actually it was pretty hard to understand why CL won LCW two times before, probably it wasn't his great play
but anyway it seems important psychological win for LCW

Being on top, WR #1 for 3 consecutive years, usually life is pretty much easy... only becomes tough when the Super Dan really shows up (I ain't talking about his shadow).

However, now life has been changing drastically...the days ahead will never be easy anymore...not only the nemesis, LD, now there is even CL blocking the path.

How can LCW be happy with the NEW REALITY though winning today? Exhaustive days are waiting ahead...

Look On the Bright Side - CL is good training for LCW since LD plays truant 99%

CL maybe the silver lining in the cloud to give the real training that LCW needs and is the quality training available with sparring partners back home. CL shots are not easy to retrieve and the smashes come to the sides when you least expect it.

The only thing to upkeep is LCW's fitness and hindrance from injury for the just turned 29yr old.

So what if LCW loses a few times before to CL. It's no big deal. LCW also need to take it in his stride too. Too pressure to maintain unbeaten consistently for 4 years!

That will be bad for badminton;that's why I am a contrarian today, actually hoping for CW to win and continue to threaten CHN's hegemony. Also for Chen Long, his rise to the top one day should be a steady convincing path to make his reign a longlasting and great one,not a brief has-been.

at the end of days, we all may have to admit that the Oly gold does shine much brighter than a dozen of SS ones combined that all parties are working pretty hard to mine it :D

Congratulation to Datuk, I think he still has the best skill among all the elite players in the world! However, I think for Chong Wei to win Olympic, he has to improve the followings :
Unforce errors : way too high and sometime happens string in a row, that was how he lost game 2 when the score was tied at 17-17.
Fancy moves : Playing against the Chinese, the win/loss in this category is not favorable if overdo the cross-drop, sideline smashes. I like Chen Long smashes, not fancy but pure power and effective, stay in court.
Backhand overhead : This is the area I believe Chong Wei is uncomfortable and he usually force smashes to counter which I think the Chinese players are well anticipated. I think Chong Wei could have clear/drive/drop to his opponents instead of the one dimension out of position smashes, mix them up to confuse the opponents.
Strength : Still the fittest among all, even Chen Long had a walk prior to the meet, Chen Long had slow down and less effective in game 3 due to all the running and chasing on game 1 & 2. If Chen Long can keep his pace like game 1 then Chong Wei will have hard time to defend the smashes.
Anyway, very happy for Datuk proofing to us that if he brings his A game then he can beat anyone too.

2011 World Championships was more intense

Although this SM between LCW-CL was an intense game, the recent world championship between LD and LCW has seen LCW in severe cramps after the game. This shows how intense the game was for LCW and how much LCW needs CL for training. Though everyone sees it as tougher days ahead for LCW, i see it as good training for LCW.

You just watched the 3rd game without realising he almost lost to Chen Long the 1st one and the 2nd, which could have been 2-0 for CL. In fact,if you'd watched the previous two matches carefully, you would have thought CL played better then than today - just my two-cents worth of opinion, don't take it too seriously,to each his own.

It is when you try not to understand, then everything will be much better. Not worth to crack you head over for.

i dont agree about this. Only in 3rd set Datuk won several points by incredible fancy moves.
