Me think after discount should be RM290. Well guess that's the largest, US13. U guys can check out Chiang Siah Store in Jalan Bangsar, or Etakoh in Pertama Complex, they have varieties of Asics.

hmm...290 is much more expensive compare to gel rocket which can get around 190 now...so this version is actually a high ends model for asics?...as ur feedback do u think this shoe is wider then the gel rocket version?sorry for asking too much

It's not that expensive but he just got a very bad discount.

    This model considered Midr-range model.

This shoe is standard wide but still wider than GEL-Rocket 5
because GEL-Rocket 5 is very narrow.

I just weighed my new Nike Kobe VI shoes. They're a full 110g lighter than my Asics Gel Challengers EACH!

I also use Kobes, very light and stable, ideal for heavy people. More stable than Yonex, MUCH lighter than Asics.

    I weigh 94kgs, so I guess I qualify! :)

Really looking forward to the Kobes! Glad someone else has given them a go, because as soon as I tried them on, I had a suspicion they'd be great for badminton.

Of course it doesn't hurt that when I was in the US recently they were on sale at Footlocker for USD99!!

Making them how much gr. ?

Always notice quite a few volleyball players use running shoes, presumably for the soft feel and the light weight. But lack of lateral stability certainly rules them out for sports like badminton and basketball ...

Gel Challengers are 926g a pair, vs 706g for my Kobes. Massive difference!

The Kobes aren't running shoes, but being part of the new breed of Basketball lowtops, they certainly do appear to have plenty of lateral stability, with low weight and better cushioning for us bigger guys. If you're a big dude, Yonex shoes just plain don't work. If you're a 60kg Asian dude, they're great. I'm neither :)

You're right, I doubt any running shoes would be as good as a dedicated court shoe.

Those GEL's certainly weigh a ton . Obviously the Kobe's are going to be b'ball shoes :D (just to point out sports specific shoes aren't a "must"; this is international level v'ball). Just heard he will play 10 games in the Italian league for the petty sum of $3.3 USD (pre-tax) for ~ a month's worth of play ... ridiculous.

i have one in red. love them. but one thing, it seems to be quite high off the ground. may not be good for people with weak ankles. otherwise, recommended :)

I just got these new old stock Gel Embrace, maybe 4 year old model for $40 Cdn. The retail price was $160. They are more similiar to Gel 1130 or TVR 437 type. The new North American Asics are very high and seem to be built on their running shoe shape. You can check them out at www.canuckbadminton.com. Also, anyone in Hong Kong buy from www.cksports.com.hk ? They look like a big reputable store.

So far lots of cushioning from the Gel Embrace as per usual for Asics. Not as bulky as Gel Domain or Gel Blast. Oct152011 036.jpg Oct152011 033.jpg Oct152011 028.jpg

Owned several pairs of the Kobe lines, I still recommend specific badminton shoes like Yonex, Victor or Li Ning over basketball shoes. I am currently using Kobe V for basketball and SHB91 for badminton. Obviously, the Kobes are very comfortable and well cushioned shoes, however they cannot offer the same low to the ground feel and flexibility of a badminton shoes. Kobes felt higher on the ground. It also offers sharp edge on the outside part of the outsole which restricts some movement for badminton. It is however, helps prevent ankle rolling for basketball. Kobes with their superior cushioning are great for taking hard vertical poundings. This would somewhat overprotective for badminton as badminton involves more lateral movement.
    Just my 2 cents. :p

With Kobes = no shin splints or ankle pain. With Yonex = shin splints and ankle pain. They're no higher off the ground than my Asics Gel Challengers but are 2/3rds the weight, better cushioned and better supported. I don't know how much you weigh or what size shoes you wear, but for 99 bucks I highly recommend if you're a bigger guy and you're having ankle or leg pain to give them a try. :)
