Thank goodness we did not visit in January. October was already uncomforable. In a way we Southeast Asians count ourselves lucky with all-round-the-year sunshine and rain. No brutal cold, icy winds nor unexpected havoc like "Occupy Wall Street". Not just yet but with environmental change, I can't vouch for a peaceful future. Actually it's been showing up little by little - flash floods, typhoons (currently in the Philippines), labor protests even in China ... it's coming ... Now with Kim Jong Il's passing will N Korea lambast the South...? What work are you talking about? Working for BC at this time of the quiet night?
quite often, i think kwun should have named this forum "badminton fanatics.com" or "badminton addicts.com" instead...
Another two night-birds from the West Coast joining the one in the East and making frivolous wishes for Christmas ... "ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY TWO ..."
I have a good feeling INA will get 2 to 4 titles here....... The only title not within our grasp is WS, everything else is fair game!
Wow....4 titles? Krisna is really confident. I am happy enough if INA can win 1 title in MS. The others are still tough to win as the INA pairs that are sent are only mostly from the second-team. It's actually a great result if either one can win the title in MD, WD, or XD.
MS: If SS and TH remain "true to form", they will crash out before the finals! So the MS title can go to HKV or WKW! Don't forget Ajay Jayaram; he's overdue for a big one, too! The MD is actually wide open; many good pairs from different countries will be fighting it out... The WD is also wide open, any one of the 4 countries in contention can take the title... The Thais are my bet for the XD.
MS R64 Simon Santoso [1] vs Koen Ridder - despite his injury, I think Simon can progress to at least QF. Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka [6] vs Joachim Persson - despite his seeding, I think Hayom is likely to be an early casualty. Tommy Sugiarto [4] vs Aditya Elango - should be a breeze also for Tommy. Lim Fang Yang vs Andre Kurniawan Tedjono - Andre prefers facing Europeans than Asian players. But still, I expect him to take this one. Riyanto Subagja vs Chong Wei Feng - unless there's a huge upset, Riyanto will be an early casualty (again). Sameer Verma vs Alrie Guna Dharma - not sure about this. Alrie probably can take this one? Shesar Hiren Rhustavito vs Hans-Kristian Vittinghus [3] - a bad draw for Vito. Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs H.S. Prannoy - Sony should take this. Vinay Kumar Reddy P. vs Alamsyah Yunus [8] - Alam is preparing for an expected clash against Sony later this evening. Lin Yu-Hsien vs Evert Sukamta - I hope Evert can progress to R32 at least. Pisit Poodchalat vs Taufik Hidayat [2] - a very tricky tie for the increasingly inconsistent and unmotivated Taufik. For the sake of his Olympic qualification, he needs the title here!
WS R32 Tanvi Lad vs Bellaetrix Manuputty - Bella is the only WS player that shows a decent result lately. She should reach R16 and try to push Saina. Anita Ohland vs Maria Febe Kusumastuti - it will be disastrous if Febe cannot win this one. Pai Yu-Po vs Hera Desi - not sure who may win this. Probably the TPE player? Fransiska Ratnasari vs Thilini Jayasinghe - I still doubt if Nana does compete in this tourney as she is reported to be injured? If she does show up, she should reach at least QF for the sake of her Olympics qualification. MD R32 Markus Fernaldi Gideon/Agripinna Prima Rahmanto Putra vs Nelson Heg Wei Keat/Teo Ee Yi - a tricky first match for Markus/Agripinna against the reigning WJC champion. Mohd Ulinnuha/Ricky Karanda Suwardi vs Manish Gupta/Gaurav Venkat - Ulin/Ricky should progress to R16. Ow Yao Han/Tan Wee Kiong [8] vs Rahmat Adianto/Berry Angriawan - the MAS pair to take this. Andrei Adistia/Christopher Rusdianto vs Prem Singh Chouhan/Ankush Joshi - shouldn't be a problem for the INA pair. WD R32 Suci Rizky Andini/Della Destiara Haris vs Pradnya Gadre/Prajakta Sawant - if Suci/Della take this, they will be guaranteed a free ticket to QF. They are also likely to be the only INA WD pair that will survive this round. Gebby Ristiyani Imawan/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah vs Vivian Hoo Kah Mun/Woon Khe Wei - the MAS pair is way more experienced and they are aiming for another GPG title this week. Shinta Mulia Sari/Yao Lei vs Jenna Gozali/Komala Dewi - ditto for Shinta/Yao. They will take this. XD R32 Hemanagendra Babu T./Jyotshna P. vs Irfan Fadhilah/Wenni Anggraini - Irfan/Wenni will progress to R16 to face the top-seed Sudket/Saralee. Arun Vishnu/Aparna Balan vs Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati - high hope for Fran/Shendy after they win the India IC title. As I mentioned in the other thread, they are expected to reach QF where Chan/Goh will await them. Riky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili vs Harinder Malik/Swati Joon - Riky/Richi to progress. Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto earn a free pass to R16 after Durkin/Vislova withdrew.
Hayom Vs Joachim Persson progresses to the 3rd set.. it seems that Joachim saves his energy on the 2nd set, by only manage to secure 7 points.
Hayom clears first hurdle Dane's Joachim Persson with rubber-games. Next round, local MS Sumeeth Reddy will be his opponent.
Phew.. Althought Joachim have an oppurtunity chase 14- 20, 15-20, until 17-20. at the end Hayom win 19-21, 21-7, 21-17. Tommy win 1st set 21-11. Now, trailing 4-6 2nd set.
