Dieter Domke is a good player, I wouldn't have called it the biggest upset (that surely has to go to Karina Schasse) even Pablo going isn't a major surprise.

In fact for me the biggest surprise is Mattias Wiggart's demolishing of the 9ft Russian Ivanov 21-8 21-17, that is the biggest surprise for me...

Of course both Dieter Domke and Karin Schnaase caused big upsets but with HKV's recent form I was more surprised by Dieter's win. Anyone knows what happened to Karin in her last match of the day? Why did she retire?

Form comes and goes, class is permanent!:) I am unsure why she retired, I would have thought she would have some sort of injury though...

Just read on the homepage of the German badminton association that Karin had to retire because she got hit by a shuttle near her eye. Ouch... hope it's not too bad..

As far as upsets are concerned: Chloe Magee losing 23-21, 21-6 to Perminova is right up there for me

    Barely exaggerated [IMG]

Haha, I think he is 6ft 7/8 in real life:) but if you are sitting in a seat line judging he looks about 9ft.:)

But this Russian girl beat Larisa Griga the day before, so it was in a way expected that it wouldn't be an easy match!:)

Magee has shown better form than either of them and certainly more than Perminova who only barely got by Griga but 21-6 alone is worthy of the "huge upset" moniker ;)

"Ladies Singles: Next up for the Irish was Irish number one ladies singles player Chloe Magee World ranked 42 against Estonian Laura Vana of Estonia. Chloe settled well taking an 11-3 lead against Vana. From here her confidence continued to grow as the Dublin based 23 year old eased out a 21-9 opening set. In the second set Magee continued to show great composure and attacking qualities as she found winners from all over the court. Laura never had a chance to get back into the match as Magee took the second set and match with another single figure scoreline 21-9.
Magee commented “I feel in good shape, I have had great preparation with an intensive training camp with the national team and the support of the Irish institute of Sport. My fitness results are getting better and better and that is only going to help my badminton performances.”
Chloe now will face Natalia Perminova of Russia who pulled of a huge upset beating world number 44 Larisa Griga of Ukraine in an Epic three set match. Magee against Perminova will be the first Match on-court starting at 8 am Irish time."

Interesting quarterfinal line-up in WS category, 8 players coming from 8 different countries, no domination here :D

Adcock/Bankier beat Robertson/Wallwork again. Now they are too far ahead in the points race and are assured their spot at the Olympics...

For those who get to watch the Peter Gade game, did he choke? Or was his injury acting up again?
