    Wang Yihan has inconsistencies...

She may be world #1, but this is a whole new stage and game, it's the Olympics, if she can't deal with the pressure in Uber Cup... how will she deal with it in the Olympics?
In 2010, lost out to Bae Seung Hee, this year, almost lost out to Sung Ji Hyun in a tight 3 set match, which she could've won comfortably.

If anyone from China, would be Li Xuerui. Young, but consistent and mentally stable.

Saina also has a shot at the gold. If Julianne Schenk and Sung Ji Hyun also play to their best they have a shot too. The girls from Thailand have been a great threat to China too; they also have a good chance.

    "Bae Youn Jung"? Haha

If Li Xuerui prevails all the ways to the grand final, she will grab the gold medal regardless who's the other finalist.

The possible Semifinal Rd. matchup between WYH & Saina should be one heck of a match..if they both meet, i think that will be the Final itself..

i won't write off saina after that title winning performance in indonesia, she's fit, she has improved her speed, she has improved some of the shots which were earlier missing from her armoury and currently she's one of the fittest player both mentally and physically. she has the experience which might help, she will give it her all.. .keeping recent form in mind i'll keep saina and li xueri at the top. let's wait and watch who emerge as the champion.. .good luck to all :)

so.... what if WYH, WX, LXR and SN all gets to the semi final. WYH vs. SN plays first.

    WYH loses.

what would be the decision? would it be LXR or WX?

whether or not WYH vs SN play first, LXR will beat WX to proceed to final under this scenario

Until Nehwal gets defeated, China cannot decide who they want to win. All must play their best.

If all top 4 seeds reach semis we would see a fake match no matter if played first or after... while on the other hand if Saina defeats Yihan no matter who her opponent in the final is she would win.

Yihan would be boiling inside a pressure cooker with such pressure of expectations over her:)

As in the MS,my head says WYH, my heart originally goes to WX but her recent patchy form and inconsistency inject a dose of realism into me and now my heart goes to LXR.

First, I believe WYH can handle her half all by herself, all those close-shave matches and her amazing comeback after the Uber 2010 debacle and in the Uber 2012 vs Sung are valuable enriching experiences that strengthens her mental resolve and ability to tackle pressure though some others might see it the other way.

Second, she is the one among the three CHN WS who can deal with Saina best. I believe LXR too with her superior skills can handle Saina only thing is her lack of experience could cause her to stumble as what happened in their last INA Open encounter. But LXR is drawn in the other half where only Sung JY is likely to pose a serious threat - I always regarded Sung as the main CHN threat.

In the end,how did I choose? Head or heart? Heart rules again, LXR, I go for you!

I know, the poll asks which WS will win gold, not who you pick but,you know,we are not completely rational beings, so my decision is based on 40% reason 60% emotion i.e. more heart than head this time.

Badminton, especially WS, needs an artist to step up on the podium again. I will raise my (thus far) solitary voice and shout out loud for Cheng Shao Chieh.
