Did the umpire say "9-5"? I know that's what Gail Emms said she had heard on the bbc commentary but she talks a load of crud. I personally did not hear it , not to say it didn't happen.

I didn't here it beig called either, and like I said it was shown to be out, LCW knew it was out so where is the problem? LD was hardly going to just let that decision go when everyone saw it as out!

And I'm not a fanboy, please...

I wasn't referring to you being a fanboy, I meant the torrent of hilariously sarcastic comments that came flooding in when I mentioned that I'd prefer if players wouldn't run around the arena prior to shaking hands.

Nice post Galaxy, I agree with you wholeheartedly. :)

    Congrats to all the players!

This Panda is happy and sad at the same time.

    Happy: because Lin Dan won.
Sad: because Lee Chong Wei lost.

I wish they could both win but in singles, there can only be one...

...maybe LCW and LD can team-up and play doubles? :p:D

Since 2008, LCW has improved his game significantly and he gave LD all he could handle. Third set, 18-19...it could have gone either way. It doesn't get much better than that.

The real winner was us, the spectators. We got to watch, beautiful, once in a generation, badminton at its highest level. We may never see badminton played this well from two people ever again. Heck, it's hard to even imagine it. Both players are amazing.

Again congrats to LD for winning another gold and congrats to LCW for his courage, tenacity, and never give up, never say die attitude. Panda is not Malaysian but if he were, he'd be proud of what LCW has accomplished coming back from injury just a few months ago.

LCW already received a gift by the linesman when LD hit a shot that was on the line but was called out. Even the linesmen were on LCW's side today - what more do you want?

It's funny/tragic when you mention something and it's automatically turned into some fanboy flame war. It was a simple statement, made because it's highly unusual that the umpire (if he did, the commentator said so) didn't overrule it initially and then changed his mind after protest. I even said it was out, so there was no OMG HE'S SO HARD DONE BY about it.

Just listened to it again 3 times, and no word that even resembled 9-5 that i could hear. I think he said Lin when LD was going mental then when Ld went towards ref he stated overrule

So you are conceding that LCW cannot beat LD fair and square? OK.

^ I take it you don't like to read what people say? Here, just for you: "It was a simple statement, made because it's highly unusual that the umpire (if he did, the commentator said so) didn't overrule it initially and then changed his mind after protest. I even said it was out".

Is that good enough for you or would you like to misread more things? It was the manner in which it appeared to have happened, NOT because it was an incorrect decision. Good grief...

But if it is the right call, why are you bitter?

The overrule came because of the reaction from the crowd and everyone who saw the shuttle land out. The umpire is human and would have caught that commotion.

But of couse if LD was the only one complaining and LCW on the other side showing certainty that it landed in, do you think the umpire would have overruled in LD's favour? No. Simple as that.

This is not the first time LD won the OG gold so he should know better. It has nothing to do with being not human. Andy Murray just beat Federer for the first time in a major by winning the OG gold and I don t think he went sprinting around the court. ( Haven t seen the match so someone pls confirm) it has to do with understanding the meaning of sportsmanship. It seems foreign to CHN. I wonder if the equivalent word is even found in the Chinese Language. Having observed CHN behaviour for some years, I have lowered my expectation of them in this department. Is this a CHN exclusive? Probably not. Only LD and CL go berserk. It s not unintentional. It s called rubbing it in so that the opponent gets flashbacks for a long time. I have to point out that CJ is exceptional here, very considerate towards his losing opponent, he has class. For LD and CL, they are like LYB , absolute crass.

Hard to say if it's CHN exclusive. I guess when someone else wins we'll have our answer. :D

Kwun, I don't understand how you can ban KariSeng but not ban Pjswift. If you're going to let Pjswift troll like this, you should unban KariSeng as well.
