I might be switching to BV next year for weeknight games. Talked to my friend about taking the Intermediate Group Lessons on Tuesday or Thursday night (8:30-10pm). Or do the drop-ins once a week for a couple of hours so we can actually try doubles (me + him vs..) to get some experience playing other people. We have the basics but we have problems with rotation.

CD: Have you had the assessment done yet? I've been thinking about it too but nothing has happened yet.

klee888: I haven't gone on Friday evenings. Other evenings that I've been there if the courts aren't full, it isn't that bad. However it seems like during the day when there's heat and a lot of people, it gets very stuff and hot fast.

No assessment yet. But I was taking private lessons for a few months at C1 with my friend (who is still taking lessons...he's closed the gap between us). I'm not a beginner so I should be Intermediate. No way should I be advanced. I'd be surprised if I was.

What in your mind makes a player an Intermediate VS Advanced?

Thinking about trying it tonight... but it is farther as I normally go to Port Coq Clear One.

    I dunno...

Split Step: Intermediate - occasionally, Advanced - always (comes naturally)
Back-hand Clear: Intermediate - gets to baseline sometimes but mostly mid-court, Advanced - baseline to baseline no problem
    Back-Hand Smash: Intermediate - say what?? , Advanced - child's play

    Meh...

Sounds like Advance doesn't need to learn anything ;)

Well it's just my opinion. But I think Advanced should have almost everything in their arsenal. Perhaps learning to do deceptive shots, double-actions, around the back return, between the leg return, etc.

Interesting way to think about it. Well either way, I look forward to the assessment. I probably won't decide whether or not to join in the sessions until after that.

I do look forward to the ladders though. Are you planning to play in the ladders?

Doubtful. It's a challenge to find time to play when I have a wife, kid and a baby on the way. I'm actually gonna take a break from badminton (when my credits run out at C1) until a few months after the baby is born (be helpful around the house, etc). That's why I said...I'd probably switch over to BV next year.

Anybody up for a day game drop in (9am-1pm) next week on Mon (27th), Wed (29th), or Thur (31st)? Play singles or doubles (if there's anybody else on the courts).

I got some banked OT to burn.

I may make Wed/Thur(30th). I prefer doubles but willing to work on my singles game. I consider myself an intermediate player. Do you prefer to play with feathers or plastic? Suppose i can bring both.

Cool. I prefer feathers but can play with plastics. It'll be my first time at BV so it'll be interesting.

Hey CD, I am tempted but can possibly do Weds morning only. Let me know if you can gather enough interest for that day. Otherwise I guess we won't play till... next year.

@klee888 - what time to pick you up and drop you off? If it works...I could probably drive you.
