The server stands as close to the net as possible and serves very high so that the shuttle comes down vertically at the backline. The worst possible angle for a smash is when its direction is perpendicular to that of the shuttle.

Saina lost it... I have to appreciate mitani for this.. She is wonderful today.. She pushes all the shuttles to back court.. That is the key to her success.. Most of the players are not used to it.. I have seen her pushing all the shuttles to the back court so that opponent will be able to make mistakes while doing smash since mitani is excellent in defense...

She totally outplayed SN today!!! what a match that was.... My disappointment of my favorite player losing pales in comparison with the joy of watching new star being born Minatsu 'The Rocket' Mitani! Take a Bow!

Minatsu Mitani has a Chinese nickname given by the Chinese media: San Guo Mei Zai Jin aka Three Kingdom Killer.

China has a new challenger from the rising sun nation.

Who ever said yesterday's jpn vs jpn was fixed, she certainly smacked that theory by emerging victorious...

Proves that very few player can win two strong tournaments back-to-back. I think the last time Saina did it was in 2010.

But it was also the same year she was beaten by a certain, unknown 19-year-old Li Xuerui in the Asia Badminton Championship in the semi-final; and, you guess it , LXR went on to win that title beating her equally young, unknown compatriot Liu Xin in the final.
