Yes, CBA and herself know she has few titles to her name and still have a long way to go to prove herself. But having watched how she played at her best, even Li Yongbo dubbed her 'the female Lin Dan'. LXR has huge potential and still young, growing and developing as a player, and given what China can offer her, she will go far. Let's wait and see. Anyway,LXR is very good for CHN who cannot rely on WYH alone to consistently beat the ROW.
wonder how many countries would love to have a "nobody" in their team to win a Olympics Gold for them!
Zhang Jun sitting in the crowd is might pleased with his charges, two XD fighting it out, one established pair, the other new,up-and-coming.
Small correction.. She was born in china... Chinese origin and settled in france... I have seen just now that as a whole she would have gained 16 titles including small and big.. Her career is over.. Saina has already grabbed 15 titles.. She is just 22. For 3 years of play, she has gained this much titles.. Still more years to come.. This is for your kind information
I must admit that even though I watch Minatsu's matches with fervour, I am still surprised, albeit pleasantly, that she has managed to pull this one off. She has been improving a little at a time. From the beginning when she first appeared on the competitive scene, I had noticed that she can, for her size, hit the shuttle rather strongly. Also, she has very quick reflexes, both physically and mentally. Her physical fitness had been, in my opinion, the main obstacle to real success. After a year or so in the circuit, she had stopped panting after strenous matches. Today, she was accurately pushing the shuttle to all four corners of the court, and her retrieval of smashes reminded me of LD's .
A gift? The way LXR played against all her Olympic opponents, esp from the QF to the Final is one of the best WS badminton I've ever watched in my life.
Agree with you on this point. Winning the Olympic gold does not mean that she is or will be the best WS player. At the end of the day, consistency is the name of the game. If she cannot prove herself to be a top athlete who plays consistently at the highest level, she'll be forgotten in time
I'm glad you're comparing the French Open to the olympics, but really, it's been more exciting this week than in London. Not too happy about Bao's male partner ... He seems to make a lot of mistakes.
While all the cutie talk and puke talk is going on, no one seems to be noticing Ma Jin about to put another gold medal into her bag, lol. What amazes me about her is, she doesn't look the least tired after doing a double in doubles. Compared to some of the great names of WD and XD in the past, who looked like they were about to faint .
I beg to differ. The way LXR played in the Olympics, nobody can beat her. But I do agree, even without her,CHN will still win gold. Also I agree she has to prove herself and convinced more people by being consistent from now on. Give her some time after the amazing Olympic feat. Whatever it is, she is certainly very good for CHN and LYB is very pleased with her.
Was China competing when they won those titles? IMO, you can't say that you're the best when the best are not even there for you to compete against them. Look at Korea, Indonesia and even Denmark - they could challenge even when China came onto the scene, so I would consider the first three nations I mentioned to be powerhouses in badminton. And as I asked before, was Japan ever strong in the men's events when they were strong in the women's events? If they weren't, they can't be considered a powerhouse on that score, too.
