China won 3 titles here, one of them is MD, they did it without Cai/Fu participation. Three weeks in a row, CHN MD pairs bagged 3 titles from 3 tournaments in Europe, wow! Wang Shixian, could SUI GP Gold victory boost her performance next and back to her best? Another Wang, Zhengming proved himself last night to crown first prize. A turning point to become elite players? Interesting to wait
The Koreans, Indonesian and Denmark pair are having a bad patch lately. Anyway good development in the Chinese MD, I think the other pair that won the AE are a lot better. As for WSX, I doubt she will be back to her best. My money is on LXR who seems to be having a bad run.
Your missing the point. This is no excuse, I am not suggesting IR would have won either final, that is impossible to know. What i am saying is her conditioning is not good enough to play her normal game all the way through tournaments to finals, simple as that, it is highly visible, matter of factly not fanboyishly. I don't know why you are being so defensive, China clearly is amazing at conditioning their players. I am also not sure that there are many people out their that can win 2 back to back tough tournaments one week into the other in singles. IR has won one senior tournament in India but through WO in final from Porntip, she does finish second a lot though. The last thing you said was she lost to better players period. They were certainly better players on the day, but I don't believe Tine is any better than IR in fact I believe IR is probably a better player. IR has struggled against WSX in the past so i will give you that one.
IR's biggest problem is her stamina and nerves. Once she sorts this out, she will be very difficult to beat.
seriously, why fuss about Alan's post, when what he said were all neutral factual report (even the "not so great" words)? this is not like someone else who always like to use obviously biased and irritating words to making himself / herself an eye-sour in thus forum....
Yes we do recognize that many uprising countries are doing good in chasing China, Yet right at this moment, China is still doing too good for the rest of the world to catch up. You should not damn them for doing too good! They do put in good efforts for god's sake! Whilst we are cheering for ROW to improve, one should not be over-hyped or even discredit those doing good to cosmetically boost up one's own ego in supporting one's own favorites. This is totally unnecessary.
You just validated what I said. It was never about sharing facts but was targeted at that person specifically to bait him. Scooping down to his level is very childish.
I agree. All that AlanY did was to say 'not so great...', then stated the facts, and nothing else, no demeaning or contemptuous words of any sort. At risk of sounding preachy, if you're serious about improving yourself, learn to accept and welcome constructive criticism, even be self-critical. That's how China keeps getting better as a country and people since the time she 'stood up ' in 1949 (based on my humble reading of Chinese history). And look at Denmark, producing so many world class players disproportionate to her size and population - there's something to be learned from her too. Also Thailand, not an advanced nation, become known as a producer of child prodigies. Both South Korea and Japan are economically and technologically advanced nations, so less surprising but remarkable, nevertheless.
I am not a supporter of China players but I have to admit they are very skillful and have superior mental strength. The chinese players possess this never-give-up-fighting-to-bitter-end attitude and seem to have this ability to withstand intense pressure. I think this mental strength is what gives them the edge to win/save critical points, and turn the game/match around to win it. Coupled with their strong skills/techniques, they are definitely formidable opponents. Although it is very frustrating to see them sweep titles, but one can't help but acknowledge in a way they help to raise the level of the game because when players play with the chinese, they really have to bring their best to the table in hopes of winning the game. So in a way, players from other countries can improve and learn from their "sparring" experience with the chinese. Just my two cents worth
Well said. While it's heartening to see eight different nations represented in the WS QF of the AE, let's face it, CHN 's dominance isn't going to go away overnight. The ROW still have a lot of work to do to catch up and they are making good progress but don't expect or hope for CHN to purposely slow down or lower her standards, for if she does that, the whole badminton world will be the poorer for it, to everyone's loss.
Excellent. What you've written can be used to respond to those who, in a moment of misplaced exuberance, exclaimed 'who says we need CHN players?' during the All England, as if they didn't know that exceptions do not make the rule.
If you read through this thread from the beginning, I think you could understand why Alan added a post like this. It's perhaps not the nicest thing to do, but smartly it's a slap in the face to the idiots who have been trying to fan the flames on this forum. Those are the real trouble-makers.
The problem is not China, the problem is Indonesia. It is the country that can and should challenge China but for some reasons they don't do anything except in XD. I wish they could wake up!
AlanY 's post was clearly in context of certain posts on this thread that involved a few members of various and differing points of view; those posts invited baits, responses to the baits and repartees that went clearly over the line of acceptable conduct in an international forum. Those posts are no longer found on this thread. In that context AlanY's post is borderline but has thankfully not started another forest fire. We will all leave it at that and move on. No more discussion about this, please. IMO... Ratchanok's biggest hurdle, like TTY, is age. Not her nerves or stamina but her ability to summon the supreme confidence (arrogance even?) that champions possess, to just raise their game on demand. She has the fearlessness; now needs to develop that ruthlessness. But that's OK. To put it in another context: she's still not even eligible to vote!
I remember seeing RI play when she is not stressed. Trick shots galore and excellent to watch, arrogant maybe but I call that confidence. The same person under tension keeps on whacking into the net, I really lost count on the number of unforced error into the net. Most of her trademark trick cross court net shots didn't even cross over. All this will be sorted out by the time she is eligible to vote
Cobalt & rogerv, I believe Rat is already eligible to vote. She is 18 yrs 1 month. Voting age for Thailand is 18 according to wikipedia. Could Thai citizens pls confirm that's the latest info?
However no bulging muscles nor the look of a body builder, please! It reminds me of her game against Tine at the AE and how she was 'punctured' time and again. She virtually has no reply against the power of Tine.
