No real surprises in the announcements for the player rosters. Lin Dan left out as expected, but China have a lot of strength in singles so it isn't an issue. HK Vittinghus is playing in the Spanish Open and European Club Championships hence he is not named here in this squad. (Also recovering from injury) Guess the small surprise is the Indian fielding of Anand Pawar as opposed to the other capable players. I personally would have rather seen Sai Praneeth or Prannoy. Just to give them a chance. Korea have a real dilemma as to who to field in each category. Do they let Ko SH play both MD and XD? Or do they let Kim/Kim or Shin/Yoo play MD and let Ko play XD (leaving Lee YD out completely) or will they form scratch partnerships? Is Shon WH ready to play MS after his absence or will they field the young capable Lee DK? Taipei haven't named Hsu JH or Cheng SC therefore they rely on Chou TC (out of form) and Tai TY. Looking at group 2, seems Russia will dominate. France cannot challenge without any Woman's Single player (no Sashina due to not have citizenship) quicker her and Salajikt get citizenship then they can challenge in future (in that group) other teams don't have strength in depth (Scotland only with one quality player/pairing for each discipline) good to see Canada/USA here but with nothing to challenge with. Netherlands also here despite their federations money woes is also good to see
Too bad Bao Yixin left off Chinese team. She deserves to be there. Question, can a player like zhang nan or KSH play in both the md and the xd? Or are they registered for a single event? Can a player play in 2 events in a match?
BYX had picked up an injury a while back; maybe still under recovery. In any case, China would want to field their best and fittest players for SC. A future BYX/TJH combo would be fun to watch, though! Can they take some momentum forward from their performances in the past year? Denmark. One of the traditionally strongest teams is now in a huge transition phase. How will their youngsters acquit themselves? Thailand. One of the most exciting teams, ladies, guys, and the whole deal. Can they push their momentum to make it all the way to the finals? Philippines in group 3A: how far will they make it? They have some exciting young talent coming thorough, and an encouraging result here will give them more impetus for growth. Can Malaysia find a way to dominate group C? The ladies appear to be the weak link, but if they can somehow get a good WD or XD result they can still manage to top it. How far can Japan with it's unending squad of exciting young players, make it? Can they sneak past some of the others and end up in the finals? Can Indonesia upset the form book and pull off a series of upsets? So many questions. So little patience.... Come on, May 19! Get here already!!!
I wouldn't put it past Canada to spring a surprise or two. They've got FRA, NED and AUT to contend with. Not undoable
Actually, CAN have a pretty good chance to top the group! The team is strong in WD, WS and XD, and if the MD can deliver a jolt or two, they're through!
Yup agree. We pretty much concede MS. MD is 50/50. Our strengths are in WS, WD and XD. All the best to them

I think they are sending players for just name sake. Fielded in the group where two prosperous badminton countries are there, they could have fielded some more MS players such as k.Srikanth or Prannoy along with AnandPawar. According to me, india's chances of moving further to the next stage is very weak. They can get 2 points from indonesia. From china , i don't think they can get points (if possible, they can get one from WS). That's all. Let's see what happens..?

Son is back on the national team and his name was given to the BWF but he and Yoo are not actually going, according to the list released by the BKA yesterday. Korean team is down to 12 members. See here. As LD rules! points out, 'young' is an relative term. He is 22 and will turn 23 in November. And yes, he is inexperienced. He actually has never been to a Superseries outside of Korea.
