Worlds – Chong Wei not happy

    http://www.badzine.net/news/worlds-chong-wei-not-happy/25406/

    EXCERPTS:

In a long interview given to the Malaysian “Star”, Lee Chong Wei was not happy about BWF’s decision to let Lin Dan participate in the world meet in Guangzhou next month. Not because he fears to play against him but on the principle :

“How can BWF give another slot to China when they already have three players in the fray,” said Chong Wei. “Would it not made more sense to give the wild card to a country who have no representative in the world championships? A player can stay away for eight months and still be considered for the world championships! What about the others who have worked hard to qualify for the event. He is one of the players, who had conceded walkovers and turned his back on BWF’s tournaments many times. Yet, he is rewarded with a wild card. I do not know what to say about BWF’s rules and regulations any more.”

Chong Wei has yet to win a Gold medal at a major event – the world championships or the Olympics.

BWF's decisions are really strange some times.. What to do..??
Atleast sometimes , they take wise decisions for the welfare of the badminton sport as if they have taken during london olympics 2012
    :)..

yeah that's easy to say but hard to do. in america, players such as michael jordan gets scouted by colleges and gives him a scholarship not particularly for his academic skills but for his basketball skills. then he gets drafted to the nba after college and plays for the team that picked during the drafts

After browsing through the rules governing the WC, it would seem BWF is within its powers to give LD a wildcard.

China as host could have requested for wildcards in the other categories if she is within the rules, but she only requested for LD.

And frankly it would be in BWF's interest to approve LD's participation. Why?
LD is the defending WC champion. He is a star player who can draw interest and the crowds. Despite his recent inactivity, he is still a threat to many players.

Unlike the Olympics where the organizers try to widen the net to get even badminton weak countries to participate in order to publicize the game, the WC is a challenge among the world's best players. Though LD's world ranking has snow-dived quite a bit mainly because of his 6-months "honeymoon", few would dare to write him off as a "has-been".

Rather than grumbling over his "biased" selection, participating players should take it as a rare opportunity to dethrone him, presumably now he is at his most vulnerable!

But can any of his opponents do it? Can LCW take his revenge and in the process win a major title which he truly deserves as World No.1?

In 2007 WC held in Malaysia, Malaysia also had entered 4 players, 3 by WR qualification, the 4th (Roslin Hashim) with a wild card.

And now they said, "Don't understand why BWF still give the wild card to a country already had 3 entries, why not gave to an unqualified country?"

So why they themselves did not give the wild card to an unqualified country in 2007? How double standard!

Just becoz the wild card is to LD who might threaten they player's chance of winning!

If that's not mean, then it is hypocrisy!

LCW was in the 2007 WC squad and should know well about this history.

As I said before, LCW deserved to win at least one major title like WC (if the sorts even like CJ could have one) and I sincerely hope he could win one before retirement.

Yet his recent complaint on LD wild card really disappointed me. LCW should fight on the court like a man to win it, instead of whined like a child to get rid of LD from this WC.

He wants a WC too badly and really lost his head and manner.

Maybe not both. maybe they're just simply forgot about it.

But was there any players or BAs give a comment about the wild card? just curious to compare the past and the present. please share if anyone have information on it, thanks.

With or without LD, DLCW will be not able to win the WC title.
