Yet isn't it fishy LCW said so only after MAS' out of the competition after losing to Germany? so this is the same reason LYB said after QF that his team has won too many SC so doesn't mind let other teams to win now... how pathetic is the sports of badminton... sad...
And as a WR1 player, I don't think it is appropriate to tell down a tournament like SC at this moment. In any case, SC is a unique team event that worth promotion although there are room for improvement. we (including MAS team and CW) always blame China not giving enough attention and attendance Superseries tournaments by telling down their importance as inferior to their selected top events (OG, WC, TC, UC and SC), yet seems these critics are also now joining the culprit to kill the sports, looks like just after their own failure to win.
When badminton could be like tennis, the fans not only attend the matches featuring their countryperson, but also good matches not featuring their countrypersons, particularly in a country claims to have a badminton-mania tradition... The Hopman Cup 2013 in Perth, even Australia team could not enter final, the overall attendance is still good and break their previous record.
CW bad boy again ? saying SC not important bla bla ... ?? Actually he's telling the truth if he had said it earlier before the start it could be even worst
LCW should have told this secret (that SC is less important to Malaysia) to his juniors in the team before the match against German team begun. That way, poor XD and WD pairs did not need to fight for hard 3 games matches for such unimportant cup. What a waste of time and energies.
Sudirman Cup not important? If MAS had qualified for the final tomorrow, would they be singing a different tune? Same goes for any other country.
It's not a secret. Getting to the final or semifinal is an unrealistic target given the imbalance of the msian squad as a whole. M'sia has to depend on MS, MD, MxD (in the past, M'sia had no MxD that they want to put resources into). It's the nature of a team event that all cylinders have to fire. The only fishy thing going on here is the campaign against LCW. He's not the problem. The problem is BAM's strategy on building a squad of good enough players. Given the sporadicity of top ten malaysian women players, one has to question if the ladies are being equal importance in looking for talented players, resource input, pay and bonuses etc
And now BAM officers also said they will not be interested to host either TC nor UC... poor badminton.
of course they are business man rather than sport. so their priority is to gain profit and not about badminton performance. when they have profit, they can go shopping together on major tournament(example:london OG. who care how player perform,as long as they can enjoy their trip and earn big fat money
In fact, right now MAS not only have no chance for SC, but also no chance for TC and UC, so everything in badminton except MS is not important to MAS. After LCW's retirement, you could say badminton is not important to MAS then.
To rightly promote a sports, I don't think it is right for the officials and your top players play down the importance of a world-champion-like team event. Instead, you should set good example to the young players by demanding everyone in the team to treat every such competition (particularly in team event when you are representing your country instead of individual) as important and serious one by professionally preparing before the competition and making good evaluation after the competition, especially after a loss. This is the right attitude to pursue improvement and advancement in a sports and a sports national team.
This is well known fact. They have interviewed the female players about it - latest was WMC, WPT/CEH, before they retired. I have also asked a few female players from BAM. The focus is always more on the men. From parents to state associations to national associations. More emphasis always been put to developing the men, WS, WD they see as little chance of breaking China dominance.
With current badminton development, men and women also hard to break China dominance when DLCW retires
Getting to semifinal even would be a surprise. 2013 they dont have WMC, WPT/CEH anymore. And they dont have those coaches who coached WS,WD in 2011 anymore.(No Rexy, no Pang) Dont think they prepared much, so surely cant expect much, not from current players & coaches. If by miracle they reached semi, they will just be relieved, that's all.
Haha, pbM why you bite his bait? Just like it is no secret that Sudirman cup is not important to Malaysia, it is also not a secret that he is an avid China fan boy and a big LCW hater (or MAS badminton team in general). Just that he has now become a little smarter and knows how to sugar-coat his posts. Just take his posts with a grain of salt. I think you have been around here long enough to see his previous posts which contain many spices when they talk about MAS badminton especially, LCW. Or maybe you missed many of them? In that case, no worries, you can now use his profile to check his previous posts to help you refresh ur memory. FYI, it is also not a secret that limsy and cooler are no fan of LCW. Just saying in case you dont know .
Currently, LCW is the only fireable bullet against the great wall of china! Once he's gone MS matches would be rather boring Let's hope some challengers from Indonesia, Japan or Denmark comes up and comes up fast. Its not just about beating the chinese players, its about badminton being a world class challenge So meanwhile lets enjoy what LCW can give us and forget those bcers posts who still cant get over the wild card and now the SC issue And this is sad everytime I come to this forum there's so much criticism against CW
Yes, of course the performance of team Malaysia is not his fault! In fact, he is the only team member that constantly delivering points for the team. But the main topic of the late debate/comments was LCW opinion towards the prestige of the event and less about the Malaysian team performance. Because some have different idea with him, thus come the comments. Be it normal comments or some "over" one, i think it's an ordinary thing in this forum already.
