I preferred how the US Open did it. Qualifications on Day 1, then a couple hours break, then MS Rd 1. And then just 1 rd each day after that.
You're right, of course -especially when you consider there were not too many Qualification matches at the Canadian Open this year. On the other hand, maybe the organisers needed to give a couple of days rest to the many players who had arrived after just finishing the US Open?

Yes, I seem to recall a couple of other gaffes as well.... But isn't it a requirement for the national associations to send in the players' information either in print or by email? If the NAs send in the correct info, there should be no room for error. Unless the BWF staff think they know better, of course...

From yesterday: In Ashton Chen's match against Kazumasa Sakai he was down in the second game before winning 11 of the next 12 points to seal the victory. Wonder if he did any of his patented 'splits' in the match. ___________ Beatriz Corrales put up very respectable scores against Kusunose in three games. But it is the Japanese who moves on to play .... yup, another Japanese, Ayumi Mine. ______ Sapsiree retired from her WS match yesterday. But so far she is still in the schedule for her XD today.
