Did you get his autograph on any convenient piece of paper? One day, when he is Olympic champion or something, that ol' bus ticket could be worth its weight in gold! :p

Yilu makes a lot more (common) sense; cursory lookup reveals it is a common Chinese name. Maybe that's why he opted to change it, eh? ;)

Yup, all seeded shuttlers advanced smoothly to next round except the NED pair, bad draw for them to meet CHN youngsters who always hungry for competition :D
    MS players will play twice (R/32 & R/16) in day-3 (Thursday, 11.00am local time) : http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=A5448760-264A-41D8-BB95-D4EBDA10EEE9

I preferred how the US Open did it. Qualifications on Day 1, then a couple hours break, then MS Rd 1. And then just 1 rd each day after that.

You're right, of course -especially when you consider there were not too many Qualification matches at the Canadian Open this year.

On the other hand, maybe the organisers needed to give a couple of days rest to the many players who had arrived after just finishing the US Open?

The BWF rankings lists it as Yilv. But I think BWF has been changing players' names.

See Nichaon Jindapon - her real name is Nitchaon Jindapol.

Yes, I seem to recall a couple of other gaffes as well....

But isn't it a requirement for the national associations to send in the players' information either in print or by email? If the NAs send in the correct info, there should be no room for error.

Unless the BWF staff think they know better, of course... :D

And a big win for BC'er Toby Ng and his partner Alex Bruce as they take down the US Open Runner Ups Yilv Wang and Huang Yaoqing

In the US Open, Beatrice Corrales (ESP) lost to eventual champion, Sapsiree Taerattanachai (THA).
Tonight she has to play the US Open runner-up, Yuka Kusunose (JPN). Good luck Beatrice. :)

    ...meanwhile, in other news:

...The Canadian Ng brothers are playing against each other in MD. Could be uncomfortable drive home, tonight.
...And Canada's best WS, Michelle Li, is up against Yui Hashimoto, who is seeded 5th. Hang tough, Michelle. You have great talent, just don't lose confidence.

Agree, so exhausted to play twice in one day.

Surprising indeed, Toby/Alex grabbed last two games with narrow margin, good fighting spirit :)

MS top-seed Kazumasa Sakai is already lost to SIN Ashton Chen Yong Zhao.

All I hear is she is just limping around a bit right now. Assuming my friend was talking about her walking on her own, I think hopefully she should heal in time within the next 2 weeks.

Something to cheer about for Singapore when Ashton managed to dispose of top seed Sakai of Japan. Keep up the excellent job Ashton! :)

Japanese WS players dominate QF, to secure 4 slots in last eight and 1 semifinal ticket.

Maneepong/Sapsiree are beginning to look very dangerous!

Christin Tsai along with partner Yi Tai of China, is into the QF in womens doubles. Good for her!

Toby's stopped in his tracks in MD. By his brother! :(

    From yesterday:

In Ashton Chen's match against Kazumasa Sakai he was down in the second game before winning 11 of the next 12 points to seal the victory. Wonder if he did any of his patented 'splits' in the match.;)
    ___________

Beatriz Corrales put up very respectable scores against Kusunose in three games. But it is the Japanese who moves on to play .... yup, another Japanese, Ayumi Mine. :)
    ______

Sapsiree retired from her WS match yesterday. But so far she is still in the schedule for her XD today. Is she injured? :( Maybe I'll have to airmail her some 'lobster therapy'.
