RAT

CHN losing WC at home to RAT, CHN will study her just as CHN studied LCW. Everytime CHN players face off against LCW, they gave LCW a tough run because CHN did her homework. Thai has done a great job finding RAT, but as promising as Thai youngsters are, still Thai has only 1 truly world class WS player. I am not being negative but I be surprised if RAT can make it to the final, let alone beat out 2 CHN WS in CHN this time.

yeah, it is very exciting time...the whole CHN vs one little Thai girl...:D:D:D
yes, it is going to be tough for her...:crying:

BTW, to OneToughBirdie, based on the response to the below post, BCers will be appreciate that if you prefer to call her with 3-letter word, you would call her "MAY" instead. :)

It is all up to the Thai establishments now. This little Thai girl has done all she could. And yes, you cannot expect her to beat the world. Badminton is hugely popular in Thailand and the establishments should use this little girl's success as a springboard to better things.

THA will have to get some pointers from MAS and combine with theirs to challenge CHN.
MS : Whole of CHN vs LCW
WS : Whole of CHN ws RI.

My apology to everyone...I wrote that 3-letter name as I read previously in BC, I will use May...if RI happens to read BC, my apology to you.

It will be difficult for Ratchanok to win China SS. She doesn't have time to practice as much as she used to because she was very busy travelling to recieve awards from many sponsors (Which is good, this is her time to earn her rewards for all hard works).

I guess she will not perform well in both China and Japan SS.

I expect her to reach her regular practice level after these two SS and hope she will rebound in Denmark SSP and France SS. :)

Well, Yes and No!

On the surface, it feel like that if we did just as most people did i.e. looking at the H2H record only.
However, when digging into details H2H of both players against top CHN players (Current & Former World No.1 and World Champions) there it is interesting to find that most of TTY win is since 2011 and she never won any of encounters in 2012 and 2013.

So, looking at the trend RI is better. :):):)

In fact, if you calculate winning rate by using simple method i.e take #won match/total match played over 4 years, yes TTY is better. However, if you take into account that the most recent results reflect better in prediction of future performance (similar system as that used in other sport like Volleyball ranking system where it discounts point from event in earlier year by 25%, 50%, 75% respectively), then it is RI that have better wining rate. :)

Last but not least, this has nothing to do with TTY favoritism. She, indeed, is one of my favorite player. The Uber Cup match between these two youngsters is just awesome.

First of all, this is RI's thread. Nothing to do with TTY here. Infact, she is also improving a lot in recent times. But that does not mean, we need to compare both the players' talents in this thread.
This is totally unnecessary .

I think it is nonsense that other players can't be mentioned especially in this case when both names have been brought into discussion. This is an open forum.

There is nothing wrong to compare the players' performance and to do so by doing some research to back up one's opinion is indeed most welcome.

I agree that recent results and performances count for more as it should be, EvenBetter's argument is sound. Indeed, Intanon R has outstripped TTY and looks set to continue doing so in the near future.

But TTY is still young, same as IR, and I believe she will continue to improve as she matures though I tend to think less so for any player however young who has been in the international circuit for more than 5/6 years. I mean 5 or 6 years of active competition should give us a good indication of any player's real potential except for the late bloomers (but they are few in numbers).

Yeah, this is what people do in the civilization part of the world and, indeed, this is the habit that any noble institutions encourage their people to do. Doing research and share it with people, if every BCer do this more often, I'm sure this forum will be more interesting, will attract more people and will have more constructive participants.

Bantongyod just announced that Ratchanok injured her back from practice field. If her back is not getting better in next few days, then she has to withdraw from China Open.

Sad for everyone who wanna see her form after WC. :crying:

Comparing TTY and RI now is like comparing stocks like Apple and Google a few years ago. :D

Do I buy the one with the most established good record of share price increase or the one with the most promise of future share price increase?
