When SJH was 18 up in the last game and WYH was what...4, 5 points down?...I thought for sure the match had to be Sung's. I mean, lightning doesn't strike twice and all that...but what character, what determination WYH showed to claw her way back up despite the hideous overrule from that incompetent buffoon. You could almost see WYH willing herself to do it - what wonderful fighting spirit from both girls!
Not a good first game by TA/LN. Z duo doesn't have to be at their best. If this continues, game over.
Perhaps at 17-13 up and sensing victory, her mind suddenly flashed back to the last Uber Cup debacle which could have flustered her to a considerable extent esp when WYH despite that dubious linecall against her actually was energized to claw her way back up. However, I do agree with you that she is still only 22 years old, with more experience gained and maturity she would one day garner the results she deserves.
Better display from TA/LN to make a better game to watch. 10-12 now. Butet said to Nova during interval: "They are very fast.." hehehe
Tough luck for INA today as both World Champions lost Owi/Butet should force rubber-set at 20-17, only for them to miss 3 set-pts and let the Olympics Champions run away with 5 straight pts after that. Reversal of fortunes.....as Owi/Butet themselves saved 2 match pts at the WC. They were also doing well in the beginning of the first-set, leading 8-5, before that damaging run of 12 consecutive pts with serves by Zhao Yunlei that destroyed the rhythm they established earlier.
Congrats ZZ/ZYL. Good game at 2nd. How come a world class pair lost 12 consecutive points to make 1st game was very disappointing.
Zhao's serves were excellent today and both Owi and Butet were making lots of unforced errors during that run. But I think they did quite okay in the second-set, only to be let down by the loss of 3 set-pts Today's defeat is not a problem for either pair (Owi/Butet and Hendra/Ahsan)....esp that reaching their peak in Guangzhou. Even the Olympics Champions also lost three in a row against Owi/Butet. Hendra/Ahsan have been playing a bit more than Owi/Butet since the WC....with the victory in Japan SS and their participation in the China Badminton League. They deserve a long break so that they will be refreshed. Just look at how different they were, after resting for 2 full months between the Australia GPG and the Indonesia SSP. As for Owi/Butet, the 2 CHN pairs and the Danes will remain their greatest obstacle for any major title. So, losing to two of them in the SSP tourneys (twice to the Danes in Korea & Indonesia and now Zhang/Zhao in Denmark) are considered normal business. The other two losses were to Jordan/Vita in INA GPG and Zhang/Tang in Swiss GPG. Overall, this year is still an excellent year for them. The CHN pair is due a win, after both pairs recorded a losing streak of 6 matches (3 for each pair including 4 in major tourneys such as AE, Sudirman Cup, and the WC this year).
Bao Yixin is so good at the front, all those soft touches, placement shots and her court sense skills.
Bao/Tang or Tang/Bao is the champion, their second title in two weeks, the other being the Dutch Open. A very good start to this relatively new partnership, their 3rd tournament together.
