Hoon/Tan, thank you for disposing of Boe/Mo in the early rounds. but unfortunately today doesn't seem to be your day. Lee/Yoo is too solid.
In the end it's one match too many for Hoon/Tan. Nevertheless, congratulations to MAS for winning the MD runner-up in a PSS tournament; it's been a long time coming.
Bo/Mo, Ko/Shin, Ivanov/Sozonov, Cai/Chai... Hoon/Tan has shown that they can beat some of the best to reach today's match Unfortunately, today they met the best... and there's no shame in that. They have earned a new found respect from many Malaysians... unlike another pair...
good effort by the malaysians........they got potential.......just need more big game exposure and good coaching, they can go far........ i don't understand why the commentators (gillian + guy) keep talking about the lack of fitness of the malaysian pair as the thing holding them back from success. would appreciate if anyone has any idea....... thanks.
If you saw both of their left leg you would see athletic tape and I think thats what they were talking about. Also, they were a bit slow. They may have been talking about mental fitness too!
GC revealed earlier that LXR was unwell at the QF stage of the DEN Open and had to immediately fly home, also skipping the French Open that followed, so this is her first SS tournament in months.
Still the same old game from Wang...zero attacking shots, or at least very few that are really effective. Maybe she's just doing whatever she used to do a lot sharper, but the same old criticisms of her game are all still there. Sad, really!
HTH has an obvious limitation, his size. He is not as agile as the other top MD players (perfect example is FHF, slightly more bulky than the average pro but most of it would be muscle). As far as moving backwards + side-to-side goes, HTH is a tad slower than other players. But he has excellent racket-work and on-court intelligence.
As previously predicted, WSX vs LXR has gone to a 3rd set. Now it's a battle of fitness and mental strength (we know LXR has the edge on these things, BUT WSX has improved a lot in these areas too)
LXR managed to scrape through to 3rd game, but i believe WSX will win this one. LXR looks very tired.
