I think LYB's 5 Gold medals achieved by his players at the last Olympics speaks volumes as to how much he's improved and continues to improve his team. There are so many players not playing this week that could convincingly defeat some of the players playing here.

As Kwun said, the article was a good laugh that we can have and now we move on.

As for the basketball, if it was brought up in context to the thread's main topic, then that is alright. If it is something that derails a thread, then report it. Other posters have been pretty good in pointing this out for this thread.

    The organizers screwed it again.
Today's mataches starts at 3.00pm and with 10 matches on court 1, with an average of 1 hour per match, the last match will probably finish around midnight.

This is not as bad and as serious as the recent TV report they gave on the "Riots in Singapore":

[IMG] India’s Sun TV apologises for erroneous report on Little India riot

    Published: 12 December, 4:05 AM

SINGAPORE — Indian news channel Sun TV has apologised for an erroneous report on the Little India riot on Sunday and broadcast the “correct” version, following complaints.

The Tamil-language report was carried in the channel’s 7pm prime time bulletin on Tuesday, which is broadcast in Singapore at 9.30pm, said Mr R Umashankar, Editor In Charge of Sun TV’s News Section, in a letter sent to Mr Roy Kho, Singapore’s Consul-General in Chennai. A copy of the letter was released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) yesterday.

The first report on the riot, aired on Monday, had created a stir among Singaporeans who saw the broadcast. Sun TV’s report had said Indian national Sakthivel Kumaravelu — the victim of the fatal accident that preceded the riot — had been pushed out of the private bus by the driver and that Singaporeans and Chinese had attacked Indian national Tamils, leading them to hide in their homes for fear of further attacks and harassment by the police.

This prompted a sharp response from the MFA the next day, with Singapore’s High Commissioner to India sending a letter to Sun TV network, saying it has reported three “entirely false” points, which was “irresponsible and brings to question its journalistic integrity”. He refuted the points made and asked for an immediate correction online and on air.

In his letter yesterday, Mr Umashankar said: “As Editor In Charge of the News Section of Sun TV, I take up the responsibility for the incorrect news and I sincerely apologise for what has happened.

“I would like to put it on record that there was absolutely no intention on our part to do anything that will spoil the centuries-old cordial and friendly relationship among various communities living in Singapore.”

He also added that the second report was given the “same prominence and duration” as the first report.

    ok. back to topic..

MS Group A: LCW and JoJ already guaranteed a spot to the next round. their match on Friday will determine who get the #1 spot. My money is on LCW. that's not a tough choice.

    MS Group B:
Tago has the best chance of advancing to the next round, there is still a chance of a 3 way tie if Tago lose to Tommy and Sony beat Hu Yun.

MD Group A: Ahsan/Setiawan is guaranteed a spot already, while Kim/Kim and Hoon Tan are fighting for the #2 spot, whoever wins their match will advance.

MD Group B: Interesting situation. with Hashimoto/Hirata out, Boe/Mo and Endo/Hayakawa has 2 match each. LYD/KSH has chance of making it a 3 way tie if they beat Endo/Hayakawa.

WS Group A: WSX has 2 matches so she is guarantee advance. while Tai Tzu Ying and Sung Ji Hyun both have one match. the winner between the two will determine who advances.

WS Group B: Saina is out. Li Xuerui is likely in. Mintani and Bae can force a 3 way tie if Bae beat Saina and Mitani beat LXR. small chance though

WD Group A: again. Ma/Tang is in the best position although if they lose and Jang/Kim wins, then we will have another 3 way tie.

this is kinda fun! so many possibilities.

WD Group B: Wang/Yu and Pedersen/Juhl will fight for #1/#2 spots while the Thai and Japanese girls are out for sure.

XD Group A: This is an interesting situation. to guarantee not get kicked out, Mr. & Mrs. Adcock need to beat Zhang/Zhao. and on top of that, they have to bank on the Kido siblings to beat the Malaysians. if Chan/Goh beat the Indonesians, then there will be a 3 way tie again!

XD Group B: Pedersen/Neilsen are guaranteed to advance, while Xu/Ma and Sudket/Saralee will fight for the 2nd spot. sad to see Ahmad/Natsir being out!

Still your analysis lack something. In WS group B, You said Saina is out. How come? . Shall i know your analysis..? .

    1) Li Xuerui won her two matches in straight games.
    2) BYJ won Mitani in straight games.
    3) Mitani won saina in 3 games.
    4) So, Saina has 1 game in her credit. If she wins BYJ today in straight games (theoretically. With the current form of Saina, i doubt it), there is still possibility for her to reach semifinals providing Mitani loses to Li Xuerui in straight games. Am i right..

    yes!

i have an error in my analysis. thanks for pointing it out. so in other words, LXR is for sure in. there is a possibility of a 3 way tie for the rest.

so Saina still have hope, as I wasn't very impressed with BYJ's form in this tournament so far.

Let's tackle this one first before you hit the bed.

    1) Tago won both his matches and has 2 points. He should qualify.
    2) Tommy won 1 and lost 1 and has 1 point and if loses to Tago tonight, he will only have 1 point.
    3) Sony, same as Tommy has won 1 and lost one and if he losses to Hun Yu will also have 1 point.
    4) So, if Hun Yu beat Sony, he will also have 1 point and it will be 3 way between Sony, Tommy and Hun Yu. Am I right?

if tago loses, he and tommy have 2 points.
if sony beats hu, he has 2 points.
why should tago qualify? he beat sony and hu in three sets.

if i understand it correctly. this is the standing for MD Group B:

    1. LYD/KSH
    2. Bo/Mo
    3. Endo/Hayakawa

the Japanese pair went from 1st to 3rd in one match.
