Much better play from LCW. Threw a few wobblies mid game but came through them. CL is so used to rallying it out with LCW in the previous victories, he's lost his sharpness on the attack.

Morale boosting for Malaysia in their time of national disaster.

A much-needed and good win for LCW but , honestly, compared with their previous matches, the excitement is there except the quality is sub-par by their standards; they can both play much better than that.

If he has been played like today - with lot of patience, he would have won many more majors.

SO, Lin Dan will come back from his retirement now?
Or some wild card again for the next world championship?

AS it is said by many, the biggest enemy for LCW is he himself. He just need to believe and play freely (which i understand is difficult, considering the huge pressure and hopes pinned on him to perform and win titles). This win should bring his self belief back, i really want to see him play as he used to.

I believe this loss will make Chen Long better prepared and more determined the next few times, hopefully inclusive of the WC in Copenhagen.

Scorpion1, please be more precise, please name your "any tricky player" that you are SURE can beat CL :D of course excl. LCW

NOTE: CL - LCW currently have H2H: 8 - 8 so clearly there is not any surety between the two :p

Both of them played really well. And LCW played exordinarily to win in straight games...

ok, to sum up of this LCW VS CL game
it is no LD VS LCW game, it is a not a fast paced and heck load of smashes in the game
it is more of long rallies, trying to outlast your opponent
smashes every now and then, but so many drops, trying to make opponent out of position, building it little by little until your opponent make a mistake or making a bad shot where usually gonna get punished

it is fun to see a final like this, not the usual fast and furious game, but really a game with tactics.

LD will be laughing as Chen Long just cant carry hard like LD can :)...
If CL wins consistently over LCW then LYB will have 0 need for LD to come back.

Always love watching the All England on TV. They do the different camera angles very well. The crowd have got a lot better in supporting players and getting involved.

Congrats LCW! Glad he finished CL in two straight games, he might not be able to win if played for the third game, he looked tired.
