Another good result achieved by Tommy with beating Tago in 2 sets and reaching Malaysia SSP final. His great determination and performance at first set against LCW shown how much Tommy has improved. And i think tommy has showed that he can narrow the gap with LCW. Hope to see Tommy in Final All England and beat LCW for the first time!
It is still a dream. Tommy went from confident to scared at the end of the 1st game after LCW kept returning his smashes and eventually Tommy lost the 1st set. Joko did not help much. 2nd set became a blow-out after LCW sensed blood.
Custom colour SHB-65X I believe (aka SHB-87EX or LTD) Let me correct myself: after looking at some pics I saved yesterday they could be the SHB-87LTD after all although the ones he is wearing seem to be more greyish than black as they appear here. The screenshots make them appear as a grey/red pair whereas in the saved photos the red does look like orange http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php/136293-Yonex-SHB-87LTD?p=2189196&viewfull=1#post2189196
I read on PBSI press release yesterday that Tommy was not able to play well yesterday because he has broken his metatarsal few weeks before the All England. Even, as the release said, actually the doctors recommended him to have surgery but he resisted because he wanted to play at the All England. Hopefully he will recover soon.
What is the latest update? is he going to be play in Singaporean SS before Thomas Cup? Can he recover and be in top shape before Thomas Cup? Waiting anxiously. Tommy is INA's only chance of getting a point in MS. -Indra
Yeah, me too. I also feel anxious about his condition and of course, INA's chance at the Thomas Cup. As far as I know, he chose to not have surgery because it would force him take a long rest. He preferred to take a painkiller spray instead during matches. Btw, his name is still listed in the Singapore Open draw. Let's see how he will perform.
Oops... I was wrong. Apparently Tommy has withdrawn from the Singapore Open. Not only Tommy, Sony DK too.
What happens to Tommy? He ended the year 2014 with loss after loss. Has he reached the limit of his ability? His coach is not helping him much with his style of playing.
His best outcome along last year was being runner-up at MAS SSP mid January. The challenge should be tougher in 2015, more MS players had scored breakthrough and emerged as new SS champion.
Yup, I read through PB PBSI website : http://badmintonindonesia.org/app/information/newsDetail.aspx?/3382 Started from 6th January 2015, Tommy resigned from National team and back to his club PB Pelita Bakrie Jakarta, good luck for his decision! Who will fill one vacant slot of MS squad in Cipayung?
Watching Tommy for the last two years, I found out that his play is very good in all area but his smash. It seems fast enough, but the angle is most of the time flat. It might be his tactic, but I beleive his lack of penetration in attack is due to this.
I agree that his pace seems to me little bit slower. Even Morten frost was mentioning that while commentating tommy's match against srikanth in superseries finals.
That is true, but it was because he just had been sick and had not trained properly, if I remember correctly.
