A lot of people are out to hang LCW, rightfully or wrongfully. A lot are supporting him in his hour of needs. And there are some who are just not sure what he did or did not and would wait to see what arise.

One thing is for sure, if you mess around with drugs to enhance performance, it is cheating. If you are caught you will have to pay the consequence.

LCW is on tenterhooks for sure, BAM is eschewing for now until sample B is known, fans are irate that he be cleared (those having lots of faith in him) or are confused as shown by the many messages here (asking this or that), and the news media are loving it coz it is big news in sport. This thread will go on till page 1000 or more.

The end result could be shame or elation, if cleared. In the meantime, we better do something about CWF - he needs to be fed vitamins like LCW (hope this is not too sensitive). :)

    [QUOTE}

I fear that, if the B test is positive, then this player-in-question would be banned while the management team would just get a slap on the wrist...... and if it's the mgt team who botched it up, then it truly is a black day for BAM.[/QUOTE]

If that player is LCW and B test is positive, BAM would get more than a slap on the wrist.

With LCW as good as "retiring" if B test +, BAM would be hard pressed by sponsors, governments, malaysians to produce winners (or at least consistent semi-finalists) other than LCW.

    Just my opinion.

Harian metro, since 2 days ago. Along the lines of - 'this has been going on for sone time' , quote A. Next day, B, C,D said 'if A has proof, then bring it out, dont simply accuse. Bad for our sport'. All A, B,C,D are ex Msian players.
You know Metro, they like to sensationalize.

I did learn a thing or 2 abt the process of taking & testing sample, from the ex players experience.

Its sthing like that china news which reported sample B positive, quoting WCH. Then, next day WCH said he never gave such intv, haha.

It is a media's day with everyone throwing in their two bits about what has happened. I would like to throw in mine bar the fact that it would be too sensitive.:)

Everyone, from the tone of the Sports Minister statements, it would seem kike

    1) heads will roll from medical team. If it is due to sickness/ injury that drug was prescribed and they disnt fill up that TUE form

    2) BAM will have their punishment already with loss of sponsors if LCW has to retire now.
The wushu association president resigned as a result of Tai testing positive and stripped of her AG gold medal.
Whether BAM president will resign if LCW sample B test positive, depends on his conscience and the political clout he holds, literally. If he has powerful connections, then smaller minions will get the chop.
Most likely, the coaches, Teh and Rashid.

If LCW was not informed about the illegality of using this drug, there's only one way out: Sue the people who are responsible for this!

For the sake of future, let LCW retire and let all heads fall in BAM. Rebuild it again from scratch. :D

Definitely. I was just considering the possibility of the player having unknowingly taken the substance and whether his mgt team had acted appropriately (i.e. being familiar with WADA restrictions, the medication the player may have been taking and so on).

At the end of the day, even if his team mgt is found guilty of negligence, the player will be the one having to pay the ultimate price - not the team, not the physio, not the manager, not ADAMAS. The player is the one who will have to face the media, the attention, the shame and the taint. The others just move on to something else.

(Are there provisions in WADA that allows the use of a banned substance during competition if that substance is deemed, in the medical profession, as the most effective to deal with whatever ailment the player is suffering from? Or there's no leeway cos this might lead to fabrication of evidence to support?)

Anyway, I also highly doubt that all heads would fall in BAM. With their history of dealing with crisis, I'm sure they already have someone lined up to face the firing squad should things go south.

You know when you have a fart, everyone would run away immediately.

Everybody would think this is a fart: " I do not know, he never told me" would be the order of the day.

That's what the TUE is for.

this the description from the USADA website:

"In some situations, an athlete may have an illnesses or condition that requires the use of medication listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List. USADA can grant a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) in these situations in compliance with the World Anti-Doping Agency International Standard for TUEs. The TUE application process is thorough and designed to balance the need to provide athletes access to critical medication while protecting the rights of clean athletes to complete on a level playing field.

The retire part? Yeah, that can be done. The heads falling one? Well, when Hell freezes over.

Can't agree more. Let him retire and have more quality time with WMC and his son. As far as for BAM restructuring plan ( just to break the ice here.....) i would suggest the following nominee

BAM Supreme Commitee President: Datin Rosmah ( sorry...no choice)
BAM President : Datuk Nadzmi (hmmmm again....what to do)
GM : Kenny G ....sorry..... Kenny Goh ( hmmm.......him also again)
Head of CTC : The chinese guy with spectacles .... (forgot his name but very familiar)
    Coaches :
    Rashid
    Teh.................................................................................................................................................... Wait...this is not restructuring.....Damn........

So the substance detected was mentioned in that Rajes Paul article as dexamethasone. A steroid with anti-inflammatory effects.

Prior to the WC in Copenhagen where he was tested, what injuries and treatments did he have? Anyone recall?

Don't remember exactly, but didn't he suffer a thigh injury or something like that prior to the world championships?

Now then, a noob sports science question for WADA...

If an athlete has something like a golfer's or tennis elbow tendinitis and gets steroid injection into that area for faster recovery, is that a case for a possible TUE application?

Yes bro regardless of how it is administrated since such drugs is prohibited under the 2014 WADA list be it through oral, IV, IM or rectal route ( S9 / 2014 WADA prohibited list)

Right, I see corticosteroids (the class of steroids that dexamethasone belongs to, not anabolic steroids) are only prohibited in-competition. So they're allowed for out of competition treatment of injuries and such.

Then someone in his medical advisory committee must have miscalculated, thinking that the dexamethasone used to treat his thigh injury in around early July would be clear of detectable levels by WC in late Aug.
