I agree, then the implementation of the rule is weak, based on human (eyesight) weakness, not like the Hawkeye. There are many disputes on this and a good solution has not been found on how to "double" confirm that serves are below the "waist" or lowest rib.

However if the service judge spots that fault, he can make a call and not even the umpire dares to correct/reverse him. The Service judge's call stands and is honoured.

Come to think of it, the implementation of the Hawkeye has solved a lot of likely line disputes. But can the Hawkeye fail sometimes? Of course it can since it is a machine just like any other that can break down from time to time.

 

The implementation has to be weak or there would be no rallies played lol.

Saw couple close ups of LYD serve in this match he seems to be cutting across the shuttle and really de stabalising it, pretty cool.

 

By the way, please tell me who is the Korean handsome coach?

 

We just saw an example of the top KOR MD pair of LYD/YYS whose motto must be "Die, die also must Win lah".

 

Little do most people know, but even Hawk-Eye has an error margin of +/- 2 mm or so.

Well, it hadn´t needed the complaints by the Danes bc in a match the officials won´t change anything. The only thing is to take to them later after the match and the heat has settled. They just lose points and focus this way. Good that it didn´t affect the Koreans in any way!!

Hope for Endo/Hayakawa to make it, but I see Chai/Hong as the favourites...

Well, the way Hawk-Eye is implemented in badminton, the video replay is just that, but in animated form. There's no live 3D high speed tracking by multiple cameras and computers like in tennis. And in tennis, there's a 2mm error margin that the Hawk-Eye inventors don't like to talk about. I'd imagine in badminton, the "Hawk-Eye" error margin is even higher than that.

 

Well as you know there has been instances of about 100mm discrepency in badminton just depends on the operators eyes.
