I have both rackets but don't know which one to use during doubles. I am a junior with a weak smash wondering which racket is better for a steep smash. Both are strung with bg 65 at 24 tension.

    Thanks

Since you're in USA, try ZM62 @22-23 lbs and get some really nice feel and repulsion for extra power.

Whyyyy bg65......that's one of the most lifeless strings i've ever tried........

Try zm62 like visor said above(never used it, but heard it was good)
or you could just go with BG80 which is many player's choice for string.

Oh and i'd say use VT70 for both singles and doubles.
Seems like you can't produce a lot of power so a extra stiff NS9900 won't really fit you......
VT70 is medium stiff, head heavy so it should generate power easily.

BG65 is the cheapest and someone told me is lasts the longest. If I did BG80 what tension would you recommend?

I play with VT70 the most and i get a better smash out of it but still pretty weak for doubles. I need to work on my smash I guess. Thanks

Is that comparable with yonex bg80? I've tried bg 65 at 22-23 and it was not game changing. I only use BG65 because it is cheap and doesn't break too soon.

More forgiving than bg80, and more power and control at lower tensions than bg80. Some people complain of poor durability because of its thinness, but at those tensions, it's fine.

get a coach to practice proper power transfer technique?
no offense but most ppl think changing racquet or string will actually help..

I agree with you. A too weak smash for doubles? Well, the smash is in doubles a shot to get your opponents into trouble, limit their returns and force weak returns. If you play against decent opponents, nobody's hard and steep smash wins the point immediately. If you are not ok with your smash, you should train it, again and again and again. String and tension are just factors to get the best out of a decent technique. If your technique is weak, no string and tension will turn your smash into a missile.

^ When you have a weak smash like me, every little bit counts, like racket, string, grip etc...

Racket, string, grips don't make you better, true.

But having a racket, string, grip that fits your type of playstyle, level, you can get maximum performance with them.

Since you have both racket, perhaps you can ask your partner to do feed you the shuttle to test.

    At least 50 shuttle continuously.

You can do smash at the back of the court and follow up with a push at the mid court.

    Then repeat with another racket.

I use this method to test which racket best suite to me with consistency and smash power.

If you are beginner then use half court, if intermediate, then better use full court.

The reason to have at least 50 is to test under pressure and stamina drop, which racket more forgiving.

I wont choose which racket have better smash power for me but consistency.

Personally, i would choose VT70 for double.

9900 too stiff for me, even i can generate better power using it.

If you aren't strong in the wrist, the Voltric 70 is better, lots of juniors at the club I play at uses them alot!
If you're comfortable why don't you upload a video of you smashing, so we could help you and explain why your smash might not be as powerful as they could be.

Hmm, maybe work on singles for now. To get your footwork and technique sorted out first before going into doubles? That could help?
