I am just hoping that Hendra/Ahsan do not meet Lee Sheng Mu/Tsai Chia Hsin or LYD/YYS early. :)

12.12 The places allocated for any qualifying players / pairs in the main draw shall be drawn by lot,
shall not be placed, and shall not be artificially separated. The main draw shall be made and
published before play begins in the qualifying rounds.

assuming they placed the 1-8 seeds, the odd is around 500 to 1, I think

Dunno, 16 places left after the seeds are all dealt with. Pretty lucky for Saina though

edit only 8 seeds for 32 person draw. So 24 places left

What 'luck of the draw' for the 1st quadrant, the toughest one of the lot !?!? Apparently, among the top 8 seeds, Saina has relatively the easiest draw in the opening and 2nd round.

Bad luck for qualifier, Xue Song, should he advance to the main draw where Chen Long awaits him. No good for all the CHN MS who are entirely in the upper half of the draw together with Chou TC, K Srikanth, P Kashyap, K Momota, Lee DK, Tanongsak S, Marc Zwiebler, and Wei Nan, which makes it significantly top heavy.

I'm looking forward to see how LXR would fare in her first top-notch tournament after her injury layoff, and that in the face of very stiff competition from the get-go looking at the draw which just as in the MS appears top heavy with the likes of Zhang BW, Sun Yu, Intanon R, Akane Y, Saina, Liu Xin, Nozomi O, and Wang YH. Also worth noting is WYH and the budding JPN star, Nozomi Okuhara, will cross swords in R1. Likewise for two erstwhile child prodigies, namely Intanon Ratchanok and Akane Yamaguchi, who will face-off in the opening round.

Makes me wonder how many of these crack players relish such a start to the new year's campaign. Wish them best of luck.

In the Mens section all top players are fighting in the top half...
Chen Long, Srikanth, LD, CTC, Kashyap, Kento etc..

Bottom half has no one good players except Jan who is Ok.

Similarly in the WS all good players are put in the top bracket.. Looks like not a balanced draws

Too bad Simon and Hayom got the same path in the qualify draw. Even if one of them could qualify to the main draw, they will be up against their compatriot, Tommy Sugiarto. :(

Three interesting WS first round duels : Marin v Sindhu, Wang YH v Okuhara, Intanon v Yamaguchi.
MS top-half draw is full of CHN players with two hot faves Chen Long and Lin Dan who expected will facing each other in last four.

No Malaysian singles player is likely to make it to the main draw.

I think Lin Dan will destroy Srikanth easily this time, in straight sets, with an under 10 in one game.
