This event seems to have disappeared from the BWF calendar. I honestly don't remember whether it was on the BAC calendar but there is nothing there now, either.

Timing is strange. This goes against BWF's intent of having no major competition for two months.

mid-February is unusual timing for Asia. Chinese Lunar New year is just around the corner. Who is going to enter?

RedShuttle, You are right. It will also affect the Asian teams performance and preparation at the All England. Who decides the dates, Asian Council or BWF?

I don't think this is the mixed team championship. What we see in the 2016 calendar is likely a re-naming of the TUC Asian continental preliminaries. They were not held in 2014 because the BWF temporarily did away with continental qualifying and based TUC finals selections solely on ranking. The rules have reverted back and continental qualifying will again be required. Of course, this time, China will have to qualify in the men's event but not in the women's.

In 2012, remember, there was a bit of controversy because it seemed that the TUC preliminaries had temporarily morphed into a team championship, in which China chose to participate with A-team players, even though they had automatically qualified for the Thomas Cup Finals. It turned out that the rules stated they had that option. Unlike the Europeans, who always had continental team points, the Chinese players such as Chen Long and Chen Jin, who were not 1st singles, had no team points because Lin Dan was in control and the Chens didn't play in the Sudirman Cup at all in 2011.

As for the CNY conflict, this is not new except that it has rarely affected the Chinese. In 2012, the event started on February 13th and CNY was January 31st. It will be much tighter next year as CNY is on February 8th and the team event starts exactly one week later. That won't be a problem for a country like Korea, where the lunar new year holiday is just 3 days, finishing on February 9th, 2016, but for countries like China or Malaysia, it could be very different. However, I will say that the 2010 TUC preliminaries (in which China did not have to and did not participate) also started exactly one week after CNY.
Considering that it will not likely affect Japanese men or Chinese women at all (unless they use it to earn team points for the Olympics), the effect on other continents' teams' AE preparation will be greater overall, since their continental team championships are all scheduled for the same week.

So there's no Badminton Asia Team Championships for this year BWF calendar and it will be scheduled on February 2016 (TUC Qualification), TUC host (China) and defending champion (Japan-Thomas Cup) have privilege to skip this event.

I don't think so because of OG points.

Looking at 2016 BWF calendar, it means there'll be two tournaments in February next year that take place in Thailand, THA Masters GP Gold (8-13 February) and Asia Team Champ's (15-21 Feb) => http://www.bwfbadminton.org/tournamentcalendar.aspx?id=103&year=2016
