I visited the venue after work past 5 pm. The sky is overcast and provides a pleasant change to the usually warm and sunny weather.

As expected the place is relatively quiet as they are only playing the qualifications. The main draw will begin later at 7 pm.

So I took my time taking pictures of the surroundings with my iPhone.

The Singapore Indoor Stadium (SIS) is now rightfully connected and linked up with the Sports Hub, the major asset being our newly built National Stadium, with its array of sports facilities, including the Olympic size swimming complex (the OCBC Arena), eateries and shopping mall, the Kallang Wave.

The adjacent Kallang River that fronts the impressive stadium, has always been a favorite venue for sea-sports like canoeing, sailing, dragon boat racing, water skiing, etc.

As a result, the SIS has become a more congenial place to visit that can cater to varying needs.

This entire sports complex comes in time for Singapore to host the 28th SEA Games in June.

Now some pictures of the venue.

In case visitors to the Singapore Open need refreshments and a bite, the new Kallang Wave Mall is close by as it is now connected to SIS by just walking down the steps.

Those who are familiar with the Koufu food court at the Kallang Leisure Dome should note that its location has changed to the 3rd level, with a new décor. It is just opposite Kallang Ice World on the same level.

The Leisure Dome has also undergone much renovations with many new tenants.

All your pics are beautiful Uncle Loh and your country looks even more beautiful during the F1 night race. All credit to Lee Kuan Yew, I guess.

Thank you very much for your apprecIation.

Indeed under the leadership of LKY and his team.great achievements were made.

LKY was very particular in creating a clean, green and orderly environment
as a pre-requisite to attract foreign investment. This is evident when visitors pass through our Changi Airport and drive into Singapore city.

Not only are the 'official' places pleasing to the eye, even our public housing and landscape are getting better architecturally and old housing estates have been renovated and given a new lease of life. Suffice it to say that 80% of our people own their flats and it has been reported that this is one of the highest home overnership in the world.

LKY believed that the policy of making it easy for citizens to own their homes is paramount to giving them a stake in the country and that they belong to Singapore.

Now our new public estates are comparable to the private condos and they have more amenities, facilities, gardens and parks.

I'm in the stadium and not long ago, witnessed SK beating veteran NTM of Vietnam in 3 games. And Chen Long just defeated Lee Dong Keen, 10 & 11.

Unfortunately now they do not allow cameras with detachable lens (professional cameras) and tripods into the stadium. So there will not be good pics for this year.

    Now Sai Praneeth v JOJ.

    More pictures around SIS

Yesterday was warm and sunny evening in the late afternoon, in contrast to the weather the day before. A better day for taking photos.

It was still early, so I took the opportunity to survey this new facility at the Sports Hub.

Indeed many pleasant changes have taken place at sports-oriented Kallang. I also noted that the Leisure Dome has changed its name to Leisure Park, with many new tenants.

I'm confident that our friends from ASEAN will be able to enjoy our hosting of the SEA Games in June. I will personally be at the Opening Ceremony at the National Stadium.

    Here are some pictures:
