Congratulations to this lady for winning the 2015 Singapore Super Series Title. Wang Shixian needs to be wary of her.
Sun Yu's sensational victory over TTY at the SIN Open SS Final is still playing on mind long after it's over. Her come-from-behind win saving three matchpoints and taking the deuces straight is the kind of experience that will definitely stand her in good stead in future. May such experience strengthen her resolve, elevate her self-confidence and entrench her inner belief In fact, her ability to handle tight situations and come out on top at crucial points in her match yesterday with WSX and Nozomi Okuhara the day before are what pleased me the most about her performance based on how she played and not so much the final outcome. If she could remain cool, calm and collected in the face of imminent defeat to win it without making a slip, that's real class and the hallmark of a true champion. It's just what is needed to tilt the balance in Sun Yu's favour during decisive matches in the majors, something I found wanting in LXR, unfortunately, at the latter's last two WCs. I sincerely wish Sun Yu's maiden SuperSeries title is the first of many to come. LXR should welcome SY's rise to share the workload with her by reinforcing the CHN WS department at a time when it's needed most. A blessing for Team CHN , absolutely.
LXR has always been nonchalant. Even after winning the Olympics in London, she wasn't that elated! Maybe her name "Xue" meaning snow has something to do with it.
IMHO, I'd like Sun Yu to build on her speed of movement to enhance her court coverage to the hilt just like her senior male counterpart Chen Long who despite his tall and big build is very quick on his feet. This coupled with her height and reach will make her even more intimidating as her shotmaking become even more threatening. Another area I'd like her to work on is deceptive play in the manner of Tai Tzu Ying, Intanon Ratchanok ,and her senior compatriot Wang Shixian. With this added trait and increased speed, her weaponry is complete to become a truly formidable, all-round player. It takes time, hard work and talents to acquire the special skills and characteristics but I believe she can do it as she appears to me a thinking player with a very good attitude on court. I trust she is also a diligent and intelligent student/disciple at training.
LXR can learn from WYH's never-say-die attitude. WYH can learn from LXR's coolness. Sun Yu should learn from both.
Nice picture, pcll99, apt. By the Sun, I'm referring to Sun Yu. It captures well her emotions winning her maiden SS title after a hard-fought come-from-behind victory, a most memorable one. It will certainly give a huge boost to her self-confidence and inner belief to uplift her game to the highest level possible for her going forward. This is a breakout tournament for her, just the kind of breakthrough that a developing up-and-coming player requires to grow from strength to strength.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Elated was Sun Yu and her fans. She won her first Superseries title not by luck but by grit. http://www.badzine.net/news/singapo...weep-by-first-time-superseries-winners/34273/
You guys are so so so good. Even during your "so called" downward spiral in WS, your reserves win you SS titles, whereas our #2 WS has yet to reach a final, 3 years after her 1st SF.
Just finished watching the Singapore Open WS final. I think I too have found another favorite in Chinese WS. Of the current crop, only LXR and SY stand out among the others. Very few players are able to hold their own against TTY when at 17-20 down and rise up to win 5 consecutive points. Despite her super tall stature, her movements on court is fluid. her anticipation against a fanciful player like TTY is excellent (as opposed to say, WYH who's jerky reaction completely get herself off footed). hopefully we will see more of her.
You should also watch her match with WSX which is available on youtube, and the one with Nozomi, if available but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
Thanks a lot for the info. Does that mean that Xuerui as whole means small snowflakes? Also please translate other names like Yihan, Shixian etc.
