It almost makes me think that Ahsan/Setiawan make it close games on purpose to practise their mental strength. Crazy stuff.
Ahsan/Setiawan take the last 5 points to win the rubber set. Will be a dream final tomorrow, but I think LYD/YYS will take some measure of revenge.
It is unfortunate that when ever walkover occur in a china vs china match people start blaming them for some purported strategy rather than a real Injury which is the case . As for this match Chen Long which was suffering from diarrhoea due to his love for home food from start of the tournament . He actually played on because of local demand but it was too much to ask from him . A injury happened and it was a mere coincidence as in many cases earlier also that the player who incidentally belongs to china got injured in semifinal pitted against other player who also incidentally belonged to china and the winner would have met a player who is incidentally a chinese and all time great , two times Olympic gold winner and making his bid for third one . It is totally unfortunate and all the coincidence are mere chance . " Injury can happen to anyone suddenly overnight and the cause may not be evident leading up to it "
I know right, Chen Long is such a gentleman, no wonder he's the current number 1 and a very strong favorite to win in Rio Olympics. He is truly an inspiration to lower-ranked players.
After the LD - WZM match, a reporter interviewing Lin Dan noticed his right hand was a little grazed and asked him about it. He responded by saying he scraped himself accidentally during training yesterday, as it was his non-playing right hand, not left hand, so no problem, won't affect his game. At the same time upon learning of Chen Long's withdrawal, his initial reaction was one of surprise:" Oh, is it? I didn't know, could it be he has some injury or illness?".
Yes, you were right. Couldn't watch the match until the end. Just finished dinner and learnt that INA pair won.
After LYB made CL and LD train separately they have indeed because LD was not aware of the CL injury which CL a being team member would have reported to chinese authority almost immediately . It is therefore not at all surprising that LD was not aware of CL injury even after they are in the same team .
If I'm not wrong, this tournament may be the last time Cai Yun partners Lu Kai. The next time Cai Yun plays will probably be the AUS Open, an OG qualifiation event - I don't think he'll be included for the Sudirman Cup - and he'll be getting a new partner, Kang Jun. As for Lu Kai , his new partner is Liu Cheng.
I think giving Lu Kai a new partner is a good move. MD is changed; its a fast and reflex action game which requires a younger mind. I feel the older players haven't adapted to this new speedier game and still "play" in the old style. I think CY, FHF and YY in the WD, should gracefully give way to the younger players. They have achieved great things and we enjoyed watching them. I am sure they can fill into a new role in the CBA. I am looking forward to the LK and LC partnership.
I watched the Lin Dan - Wang Zhengming match again, well worth it, even better if you understand the Chinese commentaries by Gong Weijie (ex-CHN national player) and another guy named Zhang Sheng (I've no idea who he is). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N328tWzFUok&index=5&list=PL0qOoxVup5gxypFsQCH8aPII49e7aBE_W - thanks to Badminton Mania on youtube. WZM should take some valuable lessons from that match, it's different from training with LD.
He is always on TV. Can't remember the last Nadal singles match out of a showcourt on any tournament anywhere in the world. The other 3 have been relegated to outside courts far more often than Rafa has been
Seriously. Can't understand regular fans cribbing every single week about WOs. They are as natural and will be as eternal as sun rising from the east. The big difference with BAC wasn't WOs post playing, but half the entries failing to show up. The organisers should have redrawn the available players to save face.
As location is important in real estate, schedule is important in organizing tournaments. From Feb 24 (German Open) to May 3 (New Zealand Open), there is only one week that has no tournament at GPG or above levels. With the Sudirman Cup starting on May 10, the BAC can't have a worse spot in the calendar. Adding to the already bad situation were the mandatory participation requirement and quota system of BAC. The result was a lot of unwilling participants whose body and mind, literally and figuratively, are somewhere else. Hence, the massive number of no shows, walk-overs, and retirements. This has been a painful lesson for tournament organizers who should know by now that even the power of ranking point and prize money has its limits.
