This is the 4th time for badminton giant China to host world mixed team championships after 2005 (Beijing), 2009 (Guangzhou) and 2011 (Qingdao). The 14th edition of Sudirman Cup will see top 12 rank nations that divided by four subgroups which consist of three participating countries for each subgroup. Who will lift the trophy on Sunday's grand final? Host China really dominates this event to top podium nine times (1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013) followed by Korea (1991, 1993, 2003) and Indonesia (1989). Title holder and long time favourite in team event, China is predicted will extend their supremacy with their powerful squad here, Lin Dan, Chen Long, Li Xuerui, Wang Yihan, Fu Haifeng, Cai Yun, Zhang Nan, Zhao Yunlei, Wang Xiaoli, Yu Yang, who can deny the formidable Chinese team for their 10th title quest? Their only relative weak link is MD. Three time champions KOR is the most potential rival that could shake CHN mission. They did previously in various team events, Sudirman Cup 2003, Uber Cup 2010 and last year's Incheon AG Men's team event. Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong will lead Korean team along with Son Wan Ho, Sung Ji Hyun, Ko Sung Hyun, Shin Baek Cheol, Kim Ha Na, Chang Ye Na. Korea is known to produce good scratch pairs that keep their opponent guessing the line-up. Another strong contender is Japan, we witnessed them for extraordinary achievement in Thomas Cup last year. In Sudirman Cup 2015 they bring some young bloods, Kento Momota, Nozomi Okuhara, Akane Yamaguchi combined with established double specialists Hiroyuki Endo, Kenichi Hayakawa, Misaki Matsutomo, Ayaka Takahashi who often trouble Chinese shuttlers at individual tournament. Japan has bright opportunity to claim higher outcome in Sudirman Cup this time as they never reached semifinal round in previous editions. Other contestants, first edition winner INA has not enough power in singles category but they have reliable MD and XD. European powerhouse DEN missed their leading players in doubles category, Boe/Mogensen, Fischer/Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl due to sponsorship conflict, this unfortunate circumstances will dampen their chance to do well here. THA, IND, MAS, TPE may spring some surprises with their respective badminton stars, Ratchanok Intanon, Saina Nehwal, Srikanth Kidambi, Chou Tien Chen, Tai Tzu Ying and last but not least former world #1, Lee Chong Wei who returns to play per May 1, 2015. This blockbuster event will kick off tomorrow on 01.00pm local time (5 courts) and splitted by two sessions (01.00pm & 07.00pm), ts link : http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...B73EE0-97F1-4387-A72F-52B49FBE4586&d=20150510 Court 1 matches : Group 1A : CHN v GER (01.00pm) Group 1D : KOR v MAS (07.00pm) Court 2 matches : Group 1B : JPN v RUS (01.00pm) Group 1C : DEN v ENG (07.00pm)
Do you have a link for me to view the opening ceremony? I am usually amazed by Chinese opening ceremonies, especially since Beijing Olympics. Never disappointed me.
Ahh really excited its less than 12 hrs remaining.. Can't wait to see Den vs Eng it should be the best and most unpredictable tie in the group stages..

Court 1 matches should be televised on bwf.tv Court 2 matches should have a stream but no commentary by bwf. Maybe televised by other stations though?
Still no update on the line ups from TS. http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=2DB73EE0-97F1-4387-A72F-52B49FBE4586
Yup, ts is so slowly to update order of play and the line-up. So CHN team keeps Chen Long, Zhang/Zhao to play against THA team on Tuesday.
The line-up is already out at ts.com : CHN v GER => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...DB73EE0-97F1-4387-A72F-52B49FBE4586&match=414 GER #1 XD, Michael Fuchs & Birgit Michels will play twice with their respective partner in MD and WD respectively. JPN v RUS => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...DB73EE0-97F1-4387-A72F-52B49FBE4586&match=423 JPN fields XD new scratch pair, Kenta Kazuno/Ayane Kurihara.
^ rooting for the same!! I thought Germany will field Carla N/ Isabel H in WD and save Birgit M Well isn't a good discision. They should've put forward their full force against THA, I mean they have good chances of def THA.
Well its team event so the line up will play a major role. Line K isn't that experienced and if Eng leads somehow and the pressure stays on Den, then Mica Chapman has really good chances of winning. Check her UC'14 performance again!
How does BWF schedule the line-up order? If the line-up is ordered as such : XD, MS, MD, WD, WS I still believe Den will still win 3-1. Is ENG's WD better than Den's? The husband-wife Adcocks will play 3 events do you think?
Can't wait to see how LCW plays for 1st time today after the long absence. I figure a 3 set vs. SWH today. I foresee a great matchup back and forth between MAS and Korea today. The key matchups deciders are WD and XD.
