Bg 80 power is better in power but lacks in control a bit, doesn't have a rough texture like bg 80 so I don't really like it & nbg98 is catered towards control and it's very slippery from what I heard.

IMO don't go for BG80P because i'll feel that BG80 has better power than BG80P at the same tension. I have never tried NBG98 but, what i can say is: it is a bit more expensive and i've heard on BC that NBG has good power but not so good control.

So err for competition what string u recommend? since I only have one racket I need string that is durability at least can last me one tournament I was thinking bg66ultimax but is too risky. Is there anything with good power and control and durability?

98 being slippery is totally difficult to control ;) , but it is indeed one of the most repulsive strings around...

We can meet up somewhere... I can sell you a set off my reel for $7 which is what I paid for.

But wait, you play plastic or feather?

    Power: NBG98 > BG80 Power
    Control: BG80 Power >> NBG98
    Feel: BG80 Power > NBG98
Durability: Can't answer. At my tension I break strings in 2-3 weeks or cut them due lost crispiness.

If you are searching for power go for NBG98. But IMO BG80Power is a good allround string. A bit softer than BG80 but not as spongy as NBG98.

    Pretty much right on.

The general concensus for NBG98 is that it is a durable string despite it being thinner, more durable than the BG80P IMO. I strung NBG98 at 30lbs for a client and it is still going after 3 months.

Only downside is the control because of its slippery coating.

After a few months, BG98 loses it's feel despite it's resilience.

I switched back to BG80 and have been doing fine. BG 80 a fair compromise of all factors for me.

Richmond isn't even that far from Van :p

Anyway, I'm a huge fan of NBG98 atm so I'm quite biased. I like the power I get from it, and at a decent tension like 26 or 27lbs. it has enough control for me (not to say my control is that great to begin with). Hasn't broken yet after a month of play with a mix of plastic and feathers. It has definitely lost some crispiness though. I think BG80 Power is more durable than BG80, power is about the same, and control probably goes to BG80.

If you're worried about durability maybe stick with BG65 since it's still one of the most durable strings.

Few months? It only took 2 weeks to feel mushy for that one time I tried NBG98. And I had to cut it, being unable to wait for it to break.

I dont like both of strings... but BG-80P is better than BG-98. I felt BG-98 slippery string..
