I know somebody, who does this to save string... I don't think it will make much difference regarding the air resistance; haven't tried it, though. Can someone share his experience?
I understand that the practice of missing out the lower cross string is known as 'the Indonesian step '. It was popular in S.E. Asia in the previous decade ; I read it in this very forum , so it must be true.....

I've actually seen this kind of stringing in Canada before, out of all places. At the badminton centre I go to, one of the coaches has his rackets strung like this. I'm pretty sure that he's from Indonesia too.
In my country (Vietnam), lots and lots of players (pros and amateurs) string like this. They believed it makes the hitting noise much louder and some like the way it looks. I haved tried it and hated it, it makes the string move a lot during playing and the noise, at the level of my skill and strength, not a slight difference than normal!
Leisure players hardly string like this as fear of hitting the shuttle at the spot of lost string as it would break the string if you hit just hard enough
Yoo Yeon Seong used his own Jetspeed YYS again at the Chinese Taipei SF and seemed not happy with it at all, keep looking at the racket during the match and from second set interval he changed back to normal Bs12 blue version. Is he trying to get used to that new racket? He used that Jetspeed twice and loose both tournament...
most likely. One would Use a racket that has his name on it. But if it does not Meet the feel he wans then he should change it.
I met someone using this stringing and according to him, "lesser string used so lesser loss of tension over time". Hey, whatever floats his boat... He's not even anywhere remotely near 28lbs and up.
