A few observations of my own: 1. China WS's worst performance in the 32-year history of World Championship. 2. I am surprised MJ/TYT didn't do well. 3. Despite stress fracture of the 5th metatarsal, Marin retained her title. 4. YY/WYL's dominance seems to be over.
1. China WS needs some serious changes and work before Rio 2016 2. Chen Long reaffirms No.1 position and status 3. Don't think Marin was injured at all. 4. ZYL is a best female doubles player of all time.
I am not sure if my recollection is right, that Chinese WD player Lin Ying had 12 World champaign, with Wu Dixi, then Guan Weizhen... Gao Lin had 9, and now ZYL had 10...They are all great WD players, but only ZYL has both WD/XD titles..
I think she was only injured in the build-up for the WC so that she couldn't train at 100%. I heard somwhere that the Chines table tennis squad had some of their lower players emulate other top international players like Timo Boll. It seems the badminton team did the same for LCW. CL was so comfortable playing him, it was just ridiculous.
I don't think it's fair to put LCW against CL in measure their achievement, LCW had out performed LD this entire year, he should be proud of himself with no regret at all. If he win due to CL's fail to perform, he would have chance to get a championship. If he play againsy LD he would definitely win. I hope in the next few years or after Rio, an era of new 4 kings would start, and CL, Momota, Axelsen would likely be 3 of them.
You are right, Chinese table tennis team has plenty of simulators, in fact many of them are not lower level players, they were really good one...
1. MS: Both LD and LCW have shown the signs of aging and Chen Long declared that his era has arrived. 2. WD: ZYL is the best female double players of all time. BYX just need a good female partner in WD ( I would suggest TYT) to follow ZYL foot steps. To be honest, I think the chinese team should develop BYX/TYT rather MJ/TYT for RIO 2016; it is just my humble opinion. 3. Hendra Sentiawan is the best men double player right now. Together with MH, they are the pair to beat at the moment. LXL and Qiu Zihan has potential. It looks like Qiu has recovered from his injury. Their mental part of the game need to be lifted up further. Zhang Nan and Fu Haifeng need more work to do. 4. Mix double:Z/Z is still the pair to beat. BYX and Liu Chen will compete with Ma Jing and Xu Chen for second slot to RIO 2016 for China and the youngsters have bright future. 5. WS: There is no queen at the moment since LXR got injured. Every body in the top 10 can beat each other up. CM is slightly ahead of the rest of the world. Looking forward to see LXR regaining her confidence. Chinese team should consider to change women single coach.
ma jin/tang yuanting who i thought will probably contend for the gold lost so early which was a shock for me. thought i do like this pairing but i also think china should put bao and tang yuanting together. bao yixin is superb in the front court, she's more like zhao yunlei whereas tang yuanting is so powerful from the back like tian qing so this pairing of bao/tang can do wonders if given more chance together. in women's single i thought saina will prevail at the start of the competition since she was doing so well and all this hype about marin's injury was created which made it easier for me to think saina will come out as winner but after watching all of marin's matches i don't thik she was injured one bit, it was just mind games being played, injury hype and all. men's singles turned out the way as expected so was mixed doubles and then there was a loss for lee yong dae yet again. .its always have been the case of so near yet so far for yong dae, chong wei and xuerui and saina nehwal is going to join the list soon if she keeps losing important ones.
In general shorter guys move faster due to the weight difference. That said, Chen Long is an exception and has done very well. I haven't actually seen anyone that can threaten Chen Long now...save Viktor Axelsen.
Okay, I will put the monitoring to your say ... don't think it takes another 30 days to hear something official upon this rumor/hearsay/issue.
I think Marin is here to stay for a long long time, unless a major injury happens. Contrary to the popular belief, I feel Lin Dan will still be a major title contender in Rio along with the rest two. Chen Long's era has begun. He was in shadow of LCW and LD for a long long time. Great to see Saina back. Couple of years back I thought she was way past her prime, and would just hang around for endorsement and sponsorship's sake. She totally surprised me over last year. After slaying the Chinese, Saina has a new Spanish wall to break. And also Tai, against whom I believe Saina struggle a bit.
