Danish MD #2 steals the show, Lee CW rises in Paris

Both China and Korea have more than 1 representative in finale with WD title has been secured by Chinese pair, 5 different nation have 1 final slot each, DEN, ESP, INA, MAS and TPE.

XD, Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto (INA) v Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na (KOR)
    Head-to-head stats : 2-2
One step closer for Jordan/Susanto to top podium in Superseries tournament, a breakthrough for their badminton career. They beat three heavyweight rivals XD en route to final, Fischer/Pedersen, Xu C/Ma J and Lu K/Huang YQ. The final hurdle for them none but on-fire Ko SH/Kim HN who crowned Denmark Premier last week. On paper scenario, Ko/Kim has slight advantage to snatch back to back title in European tour but the Indonesian #1 could defy the odd.

MS, Lee Chong Wei (MAS) v Chou Tien Chen (TPE)
    H-2-H : 0-0
First time meeting between former champion and last year winner, high calibre and vast experienced Lee CW is favoured to pocket his third French SS title. The Malaysian hero passed his arduous test against Axelsen at R/16 then he breezed past next two opponents, Sasaki and Wang ZM. The ambitious Chou TC may pose serious threat to former world number one Lee CW, he did excellently to dispose European #1 Jorgensen yesterday.

WD, Huang Yaqiong/Tang Jinhua (CHN) v Luo Ying/Luo Yu (CHN)
    H-2-H : 0-0
China is back to business to rule WD final as their top-ranked Luo twins sisters will up against fresh scratch pair, Huang YQ/Tang JH. Third final for double specialist Tang Jinhua in 2015 as she's partnered with Tian Qing at AUS SS and INA Premie and succeed to take winner prize in Jakarta last June. Luo/Luo pocketed MAS Premier title last April and they have good prospect to bag another Superseries victory here.

WS, Wang Shixian (CHN) v Carolina Marin (ESP)
    H-2-H : 3-3
The mouth watering showdown, a rematch of AUS Open final between two-time World Champion Marin against defending champion Wang SX. The Spanish jewel is favourite to overcome her Chinese opponent but Wang who showed nerve of steel and good fighting spirit to come back after trailed behind at two previous rounds against Okuhara and former world champion Intanon will deliver stiff resistance and may repeat Japan SS successful story to knock out incredible Marin.

MD, Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong (KOR) v Mads Conrad Petersen/Mads Pieler Kolding (DEN)
    H-2-H : 2-1
Second final in superseries tournament this season for Danish #2 after IND Open, lost to CHN Chai B/Hong W. Conrad/Kolding created two big upsets earlier to stun Boe/Mogensen and Ahsan/Setiawan, they have tall order to break Korean dynamic duo Lee/Yoo who scored non-stop triumphant since Japan Open last month. The top-ranked Lee/Yoo redeemed their World Championships losing to nail three Superseries title in a row, such a fantastic record.

We will see if LCW fully recovered his defense, as Chou has really good smash. I don't know how netplay will influence the result

CTC winning would just emphasise that current era is much stronger than previous. Too easy.

WSX would wish she beat CM when it mattered at this year's World Champs though.

Say what? You mean World Champs 2014? CM beat LXR when it mattered most there. It was a final too. Too easy.

You're clearly just trying to attack CM. That wasn't my point at all. CM didn't lose to LXR there. The point is that WSX would rather beat CM at this year's World Champs than at this French Open.

Also CM was a barely legal 18 year old at the London Olympics in 2012. So give her a break hehe.

i have a feeling she would lose again in R1 in Rio,,,let's hope it's not true or else she would retire in shame immediately.

I stand corrected. Didn't realise LXR beat her there hehe. It's okay - an older and wiser CM made up for it by winning the World Champs 2014 against her. And to this date, LXR still doesn't have a World Champ, despite her having many more opportunities (Olympics is only once every 4 years).

No shame in a Spanish girl losing to a Chinese girl in badminton. If you're going along those lines, I'd suggest that it's very shameful and embarrassing that LXR and WSX etc lost to Spain! But perhaps unlike you, I appreciate that other countries are also showing strong badminton pedigree, despite the odds.

I think this must be the most competitive era ever in WS discipline. It almost feels like anyone can beat anyone. In another era, someone like WSX or WYH would have many more World Champs by now.

Fun fun indeed. Michelle Li doesn't look Canadian ay hehe. CM looks...Spanish?

Spain is about the same as Canada in terms of badminton anyway I would think. Before CM came along that is.

I like how the organisers put the WD match in the middle. Give people a chance to take a break hehe.

I'm sure Peter Gade wasn't playing that tournament if Pablo Abian won the European Champs? Pablo Abian has never been ranked anywhere near the top 10 or 20 I'm sure. On the other hand, CM has basically done it all. Just needs the Olympics, which she'll get two good shots at - 2016 and 2020.
