I must say, CHN MD young guns, Wang Sijie and Huang Kaixiang, acquitted themselves creditably against the famous Korean pair, Lee/Yoo. Seems to me the newcomers could understand their illustrious Korean opponent's game fairly well and was able to give as good as they get, and it's more or less reflected in the score, 25-23, 21-19; showed lots of potential.
Agree, Shi Yuqi is very promising. But I think he needs to work on his fitness, he himself is aware of that as he also attributed his defeat partly to fitness problems to Zhao Junpeng at the just-concluded inaugural CHN National Youth Games in a three-setter in the final.
Lee Hyun Il is indeed a very calibre and capable player. At such an old age he is still capable of winning in matches. Secret has been revealed that Lee Hyun Il will continue playing badminton until the age of 50. Wow great to hear that. Lee Hyun Il is indeed one of my favourite idol. Congratulations Lee Hyun Il for you relentless effort to in in MS tournaments. Currently Korea has no good MS player except for Lee Hyun Il.
So, China has potential trio at the moment, Lin GP + Shi YQ + Zhao JP, these three bagged gold, silver and bronze medal at last year WJC. I noticed Shi YQ retrieving skill was pretty good agaisnt Lee HI. QUARTERFINALS (01.00pm local time, 3 court) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...8CB674-5B18-413D-95AA-DAA3D67D22C1&d=20151106 Who can deny all Korean semifinal in MS category? Jonatan Christie and Kenta Nishimoto have tough job to overcome home player Lee DK and Jeon HJ respectively. Both Son WH and Lee HI are favoured to eliminate their younger compatriots. WS is best chance for foreign participant to steal title from the host. Bae YJ will meet Kim GE, the winner of this tie will be the only one KOR representative in semifinal. Other favourite, Sun Yu will up against Kaori Imabeppu while Japan also has sealed 1 last four ticket through Sayaka Sato v Kana Ito. The one remaining quarterfinal match will pit Shen Yaying against Chen Hsiao Huan. Possible MD semifinal scenario, either Kazuno/Yamada or Chinese young pair Li JH/Liu YC will be surrounded by three home combination, Lee YD/Yoo YS, Kim GJ/Kim SR and Ko SH/Shin BC unless their opponent could create huge upset. In WD category, 1 semifinal ticket has been assured by KOR and may add 2 slot through their new aces Jung KE/Shin SC and Chang YN/Lee SH. Chinese Taipei GP winner Awanda/Istirani is favoured to win over Fukushima/Hirota. Similar case with MS department, two Japanese XD are the only non Korean pair remained at last eight stage. Koga/Yonemoto has an uphill task to stun the on-fire Ko SH/Kim HN maybe Kazuno/Kurihara has chance to overcome Kim GJ/Shin SC.
Since this tournament is held in Korea, I guess I can safely predict that for all the different categories we will be able to see an all Korea players final. I just checked the scores and found out that Korea have a chance to win 15 different medals because by semifinals, we will be able to see 15 Korea players in action out of the 20 players. High chance here. Congratulations to Korea. Anyway better grab the chance to win it this time because next time Korea won't have such an opportunity anymore. There are so many Korea players playing in the quarterfinals tomorrow. Plus there are so many Korea player versus another Korea player in the quarter finals. High chance to win here.
So disappointing KHM appeared as a great prospect in the 2nd half of 2014 but so far no good.. She is a good opportunity for Kor to get a 3rd contender or maybe even 2nd BYJ is no match to elites these days.. She should be handled with more care and nurture this young lady
All Korean XD semifinal in the making as Kim GJ/Shin SC prevailed over Kazuno/Kurihara, close battle in first game then the Japanese pair collapsed in game 2. Top-seed Ko SH/Kim HN has the upper hand against Japanese world #229. INA promising youngster Jonatan Christie stole second game but it's not enough to face Lee DK, looks like stamina issue here as lop-sided game happened at decider.
Another all KOR affairs in semifinal after XD discipline, Jeon HJ defeated Nishimoto in rubber games.
Okay how to say it hmmm......congratulations to Korea as so many of their players have won and advanced to play in the semi-finals. Since 70% of the players are from Korea we can more or less predict that Korean players will have lots of changes to advance to the semi finals. So really it is going to be an all Korean semifinals and all Korean finals then. So I can safely conclude that Korea is en route to grab 5 gold medals here. Better grab it now. Next time Korea won't have such good luck and chances anymore.
Must admit that this is one of the best ever Korean performance in tournaments. Who would have guessed of an all Korean final match for all the different categories. Yes injury is the reason behind the reason why both Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong. There is a news article in Hangul, Korean news explaining about Lee and Yoo serious injury. Of course I won't post the article here as it is written in Hangul and nobody understand it.
Seems LYD have had stiff neck past few days during the tournament (and been treated). Appealed to coach today about neck pain, then decided to retire to prevent any further injury. Hope it's nothing major.
Yes thanks for clarifying. Really appreciate your effort. The article written in Hangul also talked and explained about the stiff neck problem. Seems to be more serious as the neck is not only stiff but it seems that his neck is twisted as well according to the article and aside from that it also mentioned about knee injury. The article mentioned that it is a very serious injury which made me worried too.
They should skip this GP Gold and prepare for bigger tournament ahead, CHN Premier & HKG SS. SEMIFINALS (11.00am local time, 2 court) : http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...8CB674-5B18-413D-95AA-DAA3D67D22C1&d=20151107 As predicted home players are already secured two titles, MS and XD. WD also offer high possibility to create all Korean final, Jung KE/Shin SC will face Fukushima/Hirota tomorrow, both pairs defeated Indonesian opponent at last eight. The Japanese young pair best achievement so far is being runner-up in NZL GP Gold last April. Two interesting WS semifinal ties will pit home hopeful Bae Yeon Ju against second seed Sun Yu, no head to head stats as tomorrow is their first meeting. At top-half draw semifinal, last year beaten finalist Sayaka Sato has advantage to eliminate the low-ranked Chinese WS, Shen Yaying who only participating 6 tournament so far in this year. Local formidable MD Lee YD/Yoo YS retired at quarterfinal but KOR still have two strong combinations, former world champion Ko SH/Shin BC and Kim GJ/Kim SR. Both of them will face tricky rival, CHN future star Li JH/Liu YC and TPE youngsters Lee JH/Lee Y respectively. Li/Liu succeeded to collect 4 title in 2015, 2 GP Gold (US Open and China Masters) and 2 GP (CAN Open, VIE Open).

WJC 2015 Peru http://badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/158390-BWF-World-Junior-Championships-2015/page6 Ruthvika lost to Goh Jin Wei in rubber games.
So just as predicted we get to see an all Korean finals. Yippee hurray. So Korea is en route to win 5 gold medals. Better grab the opportunity to win it now. Next time Korea won't have such a good opportunity anymore.
