And Sun Yu denied host KOR to scoop all 5 title here, the tall Chinese outplayed Bae YJ with identical scoreline, 21-8 / 21-8.

    FINALS (11.00am local time) : http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...8CB674-5B18-413D-95AA-DAA3D67D22C1&d=20151108

As predicted host KOR dominates final clash, leaving WS title for foreign players. The less competitive rebranding BWF GP Gold tournament also happened previously in Syed Modi India Open 2014, Indonesia Masters 2014, China Masters 2014 & 2015.

MD, Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang (KOR) v Ko Sung Hyun/Shin Baek Cheol (KOR)
Head to head stats : 2-0
The former world champion Ko SH/Shin BC never won over Kim GJ/Kim SR in their two previous meetings. Kim/Kim once topped podium in Superseries level, Japan Open 2012, twice bronze medalist in 2014 Copenhagen and 2013 Guangzhou World meet also bronze medal as well in Incheon Asian Games last year while their rival Ko SH/Shin BC won INA Premier this year and tomorrow final will prove who's better pair after the mighty Lee/Yoo combination.

WD, Jung Kyung Eun/Shin Seung Chan (KOR) v Chang Ye Na/Lee So Hee (KOR)
    H-2-H : 1-1
Both pairs are KOR current best WD and the reshuffle seems working good, high probability these two combinations will play leading role in Uber Cup next year. The close final clash is expected as they're so familiar each other. Jung KE/Shin SC won their first major title in DEN Premier due to the Olympic Champion walkover.

MS, Lee Dong Keun (KOR) v Lee Hyun Il (KOR)
    H-2-H : 1-0
A rematch of last year final, Lee DK is truly motivated to give his best at home event, he stunned his stronger senior Son WH at last four and challenge former world #1 Lee HI tomorrow. Age isn't a matter for Lee Hyun Il, this 35 years old had bagged 3 GP Gold title in 2015, such inspiring performance by the veteran.

WS, Sayaka Sato (JPN) v Sun Yu (CHN)
    H-2-H : 0-1
The most interesting final encounter as this is the only tie who present two finalists from different nations. Chinese #4 Sun Yu is favoured to win second GP Gold title in this year after SUI Open last March, she displayed solid and superb style of play to frustrate Bae Yeon Ju in semifinal.

XD, Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na (KOR) v Shin Baek Cheol/Chae Yoo Jung (KOR)
    H-2-H : 1-0
Ko/Kim is unstoppable to pocket another title, they're bounced back and well-improved lately after experienced painful losing at Sudirman Cup semifinal against Japanese low-ranked XD Kazuno/Kurihara and caused their team stopped to enter last round.

even though both Lee HI and Lee DK are from Korea, they have coaches sitting at behind!

Now we know why LYB is not considering Sun Yu for the Rio Olympics, he knows what's missing in her.

After the good comeback in G1, albeit lost narrowly, the momentum was with Sun Yu and she's not seizing more of the initiative, and not aware of Sayaka Sato's gameplan to keep Sun Yu lifting to her time and again.Instead we see Sato smashing and smashing to keep Sun Yu on her toes, defending most of the time.

Chen Jin has said before that Sun Yu lacked self-belief that she can challenge the very best, and it showed in how cautiously and conservatively she played, not maximising her height and reach to pile on the pressure by attacking more forcefully, smashing and fast drop shots, rather than mostly punch clears.

I think LYB and Zhang Ning simply don't want Sun Yu to move up to rank number 10 from 11, especially for the month of November. She has been at exactly world ranking number 11 at a while now...

Overall, Sun Yu's strokes are too predictable and straightforward, insufficient variation, lacking in deception.

Doesn't matter, her ranking, unless she suddenly do a LXR winning a streak of victories forcing LYB to reconsider her, she's definitely out of the running for Rio. Hope she, now age 21, born 28 Feb 1994, continues to grow and realize her full potential, then Tokyo 2020 beckons. By that time, her junior teammates , He Bingjiao, Chen Yufei, and Li Yun, just to name three, will be contending with her, as well as one or two of the present seniors.

    You are not serious!! She isn't good enough I am afraid. She makes too many mistakes and has not much variety in her game; its is too telepathic i.e. her opponents can read her game. She only has one 'gear" and can't up or vary her stroke play. Smash at her body and you get a free point;
She has improved but not good enough to make Rio.

That's why yesterday when Sun Yu seemingly annihilated Bae YJ, I held back from commenting for I believed her opponent was having a bad day, Bae's solid, stubborn defence was missing, thus making Sun Yu who played well, yes, looked especially impressive. Had Bae's defensive and counterattacking ability been more in evidence, the match would have been much closer.

IMHO, Sun Yu should have won the the final just now, had she been more positive and proactive. Noticed that on the few occasions when Sun Yu played net, Sayaka mostly returned net, refusing to lift as far as possible to force the lift from SY and quickly get behind the shuttle to go on the offensive again and dictating the rallies.

No problem. Your assessment of her is basically correct.

Sayaka aware of Sun Yu's reach prefer to go for body smashes, smart of her. And anticipating Sun Yu's constant lifting was able to get behind the shuttle to bring it down, either smashing or drop shots. Had SY varied her shots more, played more nets, including x-nets, and fast drives, on top of punch clears, and, more importantly, smashes and fast drops - that would keep Sayaka moving around more and guessing, then I think ,most likely, SY would have won the tight match. Just my 2cents.

I trust, with such near misses which constitute hard knocks and heartaches, Sun Yu would draw valuable lessons from them and emerge stronger in future. There's really no substitute for experience.

The only saving grace for Sun Yu in this tournament is her improved defence, but no matter how good your defence, you cannot win on superb defence alone unless the opponent happens to be error-prone or having a bad day. Still plenty of room for improvement in Sun Yu's offensive play for which with her physicality should be intimidating.

As for Lee Hyun Il, slowly and gradually, his 35 years of age is beginning to show, esp in the decider with Lee Dong Keun earlier.
