Danish men's singles dismissed, Li Xuerui toppled

Second day tournament saw some pre tournament favourites bit the dust, Li Xuerui, Viktor Axelsen, Jan O Jorgensen got premature exit in Hong Kong also Srikanth, Endo/Hayakawa and Liu/Qiu failed to clear opening round.

Men's singles leading contenders, Chen Long and Lee Chong Wei were relatively comfortable to pass first hurdle yesterday. Lin Dan needed extra game to eliminate the promising Indonesian youngster Mustofa while Chou Tien Chen escaped from thrilling game against local player Vincent Wong. At bottom half of draw, only one seeded player remains, Kento Momota as the qualifiers and underdogs stole the show, Ginting disposed Wei Nan and Sakai stunned one of well-improved player lately Viktor Axelsen. The unexpected result also scored by Jorgensen and Hu Yun, downed to their lower-rank rival, Wang Zhengming and Chong Wei Feng respectively. Defending champion Son Wan Ho will take on Srikanth's boogeyman Tian Houwei, a prospected close encounter this afternoon. Two young men will face off today, Momota v Ginting, a rematch of Indonesia Premier quarterfinal last June.

Japan women's singles rule second round with 5 player, the biggest setback in this category was created by Li Xuerui who stumbled to Nozomi Okuhara at first round after won China Premier last Sunday. Hot favourite Carolina Marin has Akane Yamaguchi who may thwart her to go further in this tournament. Another title contenders, Sung Ji Hyun, Wang Yihan and last year winner Tai Tzu Ying have good chance to advance. A prospected tight battle may happen to Intanon against Mitani.

The consistent men's doubles pair Endo/Hayakawa booked negative outcome here, lost to Chinese Taipei combination Chen HL/Wang CL. First round exit also arrived for recent world championships runner-up Liu XL/Qiu ZH, eliminated by Indonesian back-up pair Gideon/Sukamuljo. Ahsan/Setiawan will take revenge their last week China Open second round defeat to Wang YL/Zhang W. Two intriguing second round ties will pit Ko SH/Shin BC v Goh VS/Tan WK and Chai B/Hong W oppose former world number one Koo KK/Tan BH.

All women's doubles seeded-pairs step up to next round except Kakiiwa/Maeda who retired yesterday, the real contest should start from this stage. Top-seed Matsutomo/Takahashi will be tested by China new experimenting pair Tang JH/Zhong QX, Denmark Premier winner Jung KE/Shin SC will up against current world championships bronze medalist Fukuman/Yonao. One quarterfinal ticket has been ensured by China pair, second seed Luo twin sisters will meet their teammates Tang YT/Yu Y.

Two Korean mixed doubles pairs surprised their more favoured opponent yesterday, Yoo/Chang, Shin/Chae knocked out Lu/Huang and former champion Adcock/Adcock. Chinese frontrunners, Zhang/Zhao and Xu/Ma are predicted to through to last eight. Korea has guaranteed one quarterfinal berth here through Kim/Shin who will take on Shin/Chae. 2013 edition runner-up Liu/Bao has Denmark tricky test, Nohr/Thygesen who dumped Lu/Huang last week in Fuzhou. The most interesting tie of second round to follow, Jordan/Susanto will face their nemesis and home favourite Reginald Lee CH/Chau HW.

Korean doubles really looked so promising lately. And they also have many back up pairs, it seems.

Ah, you guys consider Reginald / Chau as Praveen/Jordan's nemesis? What's their Stats? I thought it's Kim Ha Na/ Koo.

Anyway, can't wait for every exciting matches.
