Does anyone know if any of the players have dropped out? I'm thinking of going to watch, but if the good players have withdrawn, then it might not be worth it haha.

Koo/Tan has withdrawn I believe before the draw was made from what I've read on Badzine but it's not listed in any of the 'star' players so I guess it doesn't make too much of a difference :p.

Will definitely be rooting on Goh/Tan to carry on the momentum from their triumph in the US GP Gold , it's about time they start winning more titles, not forgetting Chan/Goh too. Hope they start to buck up, they definitely have it in them.

Just checked the lists of the players for this tournament and found out that some players have withdrawn from the tournament. Taking distance into consideration and also the different timing zone, very few Asian player participates in this tournament.

For Korean side there will be no representatives for MS, WS and MD. For WD initially 3 pairs will participate. Jung Kyung Eun / Shin Seung Chan and Chang Ye Na / Lee So Hee will participate. Goo Ah Ra / Yoo Hae Won have withdrawn last minute. For XD only Choi Sol Kyu / Eom Hye Won will participate.

The tournament have started today with qualifying rounds. The tournament will start from Tuesday and end on Saturday. Due to lack of participation and also some last minute withdrawal there will be bye in the first round of the tournament. Anyway all the best to the players who will be participating in this tournament. This will also be the last tournament for this year.

I will try my best to keep the daily results updated here.

I think if you are staying near the place of the tournament it will definitely be worth going there to watch as the 2 best WD pair from Korea will participate together with their best XD too. Sorry for the late reply. I think it is definitely worth to go there and watch this tournament live at the stadium.

The newly-crowned Dubai SS Finals champion and tournament top-seed Nozomi Okuhara also pulled out, leaving the WS rivalry to be contested by Sayaka Sato, Minatsu Mitani, Bae Yeon Ju and three Thai shuttlers, Jindapon-Porntip-Busanan. Other notable names in this category should be Michelle Li and Scottish young star Kirsty Gilmour.

The time zone in Mexico is entirely different from the Asian timing. It is now 12.10 pm China timing but it is 10.10 pm Mexico Federal City timing. Mexico has 3 different time zone.

    10.10 PM

    Tuesday, December 15, 2015 (CST)
10.09 PM Time in Mexico City, Federal District, Mexico

9.10 PM La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico (GMT-7)
8.10 PM Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico (PST)

We will follow the first time zone of the Mexico Federal City.

Mexico is 14 hours ahead of China.

This also mean that the timing of the tournament will be suitable for Asian viewers although the time zone is different here.

Although it is only a small tournament and not as grand as the Super Series or Super Series Premier tournament, we still see good players participating in this tournament because the players are all chasing points for Olympic qualification. So it is not surprising to see countries like Korea send their best WS, WD and XD to participate in this tournament. This will indirectly help the organiser to promote this tournament.

Although the price money offered may not be much and not even enough to cover the expenses, Korea still send their best players here in a bid to gain more points for Olympic qualification. However, I personally is very concerned about the welfare of the Korean players because they have been participating in tournaments non stop on weekly basis and thus injuries may ensued next.

The tournament for today is slated to start at 9.00 am Mexico time which is 11.00 pm China time.

The tournament for today is estimated to end at 9.00 pm Mexico time which is 11.00 am China time.

This means that Asia viewers can still watch the tournament live from 6-11 am and still get to sleep at night.

Here are a few exciting matches worth watching today.

    9:50 AM XD
Kenta Kazuno Japan / Ayane Kurihara Japan versus U.S.A. Hock Lai Lee / Canada Phyllis Chan

    11:40 AM MS
Luis Ramon Garrido Mexico versus Japan Sho Sasaki [2]

    12:25 PM MS
Pedro Martins Portugal versus Korea Lee Dong Keun [3]

    1:40 PM WS
Sayaka Sato [7] Japan versus U.S.A. Iris Wang

    3:45 PM WS
Anahi Paola De La Torre Martinez Mexico versus Japan Minatsu Mitani [5]

    5:50 PM WD
Isabel Herttrich Germany / Birgit Michels Germany versus Japan Shizuka Matsuo / Japan Mami Naito

    6:25 PM WD
Jung Kyung Eun Korea / Shin Seung Chan Korea versus France Marie Batomene / France Emilie Lefel

Things to take note is the first round of the MS events have ended yesterday and the second round of the MS events will start today. Due to some first round bye in this tournament, some of the top players will not be playing today as they have received the first round byes.

Different countries will be banking on different players to win the titles here. I guess for the India side, they will be banking on Ajay Jayaram to win the MS title and Manu Attri / Sumeeth Reddy to win the MD titles in this tournament.

As Jung Kyung Eun / Shin Seung Chan and Lee So Hee / Chang Ye Na are newly formed WD Korean pairs, they need to participate in more tournaments to gain more points for their Olympic qualification. Hence both pairs are here to participate in this Mexico Open.
