HBJ plays with a lot of deception, but she often has to pay the price of making mistakes trying to play those deceptive strokes. RI found it difficult to read where she was going to hit the shuttles quite a number of times. I think HBJ hurt her right wrist or one of her fingers when she dived for the shuttle in the first set, may be the 2nd, I am not sure. She requested for medical timeout but was not allowed. Good show HBJ. Continue to work hard.
I'm still concerned about HBJ's fitness level, stamina and endurance. Her kind of game, deceptive, fast attacking, requires it more. Actually, the same goes for Intanon who seems to have improved quite a bit in this regard.
The good thing is HBJ can read Intanon's game reasonably well, I guess it takes one deceptive player to read another.
I reckon Intanon must have been practising a lot of straight down-the-line smashes with tight margins and high accuracy, a lethal weapon of hers.
With such a remarkable performance by HBJ, I'd expect those guys who are often quick to jump in and sing the praises of the likes of CM and NO, to at least say something about HBJ, but, no, we are met with thunderous silence, as expected and understood.
Well, we can hardly compare the results. Let HBJ do more, then I am sure people will talk about her a lot.
is Xue Song still alive in this tournament ? No stopping Bingjiao Bomb though. 2nd GPG title for her.Congratulations spongebob.
I Think HBJ is a good player, I watched her play at all england last week, she has finesse and nice strokes.
What a strong WS era! Another China up and coming player beats Ratchanok. To be honest, Ratchanok loses to most China WS players, even ones outside top 50 etc. But perhaps it's simply reflective of such a strong WS era. Nine Tailed Fox, yes Xue Song through to quarter-finals. Can't see anyone stopping him really. Classic Tan/Goh doing what they do best and lose to any random Denmark pairing. Nice to see KKK/TBH notch a win though. And are China MD reaching rock bottom? One of their top pairs loses to a random German pair!
You sound a bit salty. HBJ has done well, but she's still a long way behind the achievements of CM -5 SS titles + 2 consecutive World Championship titles when no Spanish WS player had even ever won a mere Grand Prix Gold Tilte - and NO - first ever Japan World Junior Champion in 2012, first SS title at the Japan on her first year on the professional tour, and first AE title in 39 years, all that after not being able to play for more than a year because of a knee injury. HBJ is only 18 and given her talent, her time will sure come (after she adds some more GPG and a 1st SS title), but as of now she's naturally under the shadow of her talented peers LXR, WSX and WYH who remain among the very best WS players on tour.
