I have been only using BG80@25lbs or 26lbs for around 8 months so far. I used to break it every month and a half, but now I tend to break it in 2 weeks or less. (Last time it broke in a week) Then I tried VS800@27lbs, and BG65@27lbs. They both broke in less than a week, though to be fair I played ~4 hours every weekday within those weeks. I am currently deciding between buying a reel of VS800 and getting it done at 26.5lbs every 2-3 weeks of normal play (I like to slice, which is easier with VS800 than BG65). Or I can purchase a reel of GosenRx110/VS850, both of which are said to be similar to BG80. Any thoughts? Any other strings I can try? I'm looking for something that is reasonably hard feeling, and is reasonably durable (3wks will make me happy). Will revert back to BG80 once competition season approaches. (Also looking into Ashaway strings...the fire strings will look amazing with my vt.80 etune)

String is breaking due to rapid fraying. Grommets are fine. Usually breaking around the sweetspot.

Slicing the shuttle definitely contributes to string fraying which leads to string breakage.

    Thicker strings might help.

Around 50% of the time, feather, 50% plastic. Training = feather, games with friends is usually plastic.
