For me, I'd certainly opt for stem cell therapy for offering the best chance of a complete cure.

Can TCM repair lateral meniscus tear? At most it acts as a supplement to aid recovery, including acupuncture (accutherapy) and accupressure massage, I think.

If I'm not wrong, Xue Song's nickname in social media is Rocky.

May Rocky soar again soon !

Is Xue Song back in Beijing and has the diagnosis of the Indian doctors been confirmed? What is the latest news from CBA or from his Weibo account? CBA and the Chinese doctors know best how to treat him. Get well soon XS.

He updated his blog. The diagnosis is optimistic.

Heartening to hear that. If Xue Song can be back in half a year latest - the earlier the better, needless to say - and carry on where he left off, I'll be more than happy.

Can Dr Visor please give his comments. What is the possible prognosis? The meniscus broke into 2 halves sounds serious to a non health-care personnel like me.

Well... there's good news and then there's bad news.

Good news is that there's no damage to his ACL. Which we already kinda knew because his mechanism of injury and the way he sustained the injury is not severe from the way it looked on the video.

Bad news is that his lateral meniscus is torn. If in half as he stated, that doesn't sound good. And he's unable to straighten his knee nor weight bear, which means the other half is floating around loose inside the joint getting in the way of normal joint function. Eventually this loose piece needs to be taken out by arthroscopy. And he'll have to make do with only half of his lateral meniscus for the rest of his career and life. Doubt of stem cell injection will heal such a big piece like that. He can still play at high level, but there will be a price he'll pay when he gets older.

Probably the doctor who examined Xue Song tried to sound encouraging and he, being a layman, became a bit too optimistic.

Well, considering that the worst was feared and not found (ACL tear), I suppose everyone including himself is breathing a sigh of relief. It's really not career ending or anything. With proper treatment and rehab, he'll probably be almost back to his old self in few months if all goes well.

Wow what a serious injury indeed. I certainly hope that Xue Song will have a speedy recovery and make a come back soon. I cried in tears knowing how bad your injury is but I believe definitely you can recover soon.

Did you really " cry in tears" or is it the Koreans' way of expressing their sadness over something? Just curious, have nothing against the post.

Sorry I really cried in tears as I was just too sad at that time when I knew about his injury. So sad to hear about the serious injury that occurred.

How dare you question blabl's tears. The amount of time blabl has cried in tears is enough to cause flood in entire Korea.

So sorry I didn't make myself clear. What I wanted to know is whether it is the Koreans' figurative way of saying that they are profoundly sad over something. Ok he meant it to the letter. Appreciate his concern for the injured XS

55555555...........If you have been to Thailand or have Thai friends you will know that the figure "5" is pronounced as "ha " in the Thai language. So by 5555555....... I mean Hahahaha...........

You are quite a joker. Good for you. People who joke a lot are happy people and happy people have long lives. blabi is actually a very nice BCer, very polite and always trying not to hurt anyone's feeling, a trait which I admire.

Just noticed that you have made Tan Boon Heong out of me. My friend, I am right-handed and used to play embarrassing low standard singles a very very long time ago.

I have my doubts about stem cells and their efficacy. I wonder whether they are just as good as a placebo. Promising concept but no practical results. I dont believe LCW recovered just because of the stem cells.
