Congratulation on reaching the India Sunrise Open Final. Let's see who wants to go to Rio more : Angga/Ricky or this pair Kevin/Markus. Good luck to all.
Current ranking, Angga/Ricky have good chance to qualify for Rio Olympic as the top 8 pairs together with Ahsan/Setiawan provided they win India SSP and reaching final in Malaysia SSP or winning Singapore SS. Meanwhile for Gideon/Kevin, based on their current ranking it is quite difficult for them to qualify unless miracle happen. My personal guess, for tomorrow India SSP final match, Gideon/Kevin have to give way to Angga/Ricky.
Congratulations to Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Markus Fernaldi Gideon in winning their first SS title as a pair and 3rd titles overall! I hope this will be the start of many SS/SSP titles to come for this young pair and the arrival of their first GPG and SS titles will definitely spur them to win more titles in the future! Having watched the Final match, Kevin's trickery in front of the net was not surprising, as I knew him to be a "crafty" (or licik in Bahasa Indonesia) player since he was 15-16 yo; and I have been following his progress since then (from his Kejurnas and Junior days till now). I was more surprised by Markus Fernaldi Gideon, whom to me has that fire in him too, that makes him quite a suitable partner for young Kevin at the moment. I thought Markus Fernaldi was not a hard-hitter but he had proven me wrong today. The only thing that they need to fine tune is their emotion, which sometimes can backfire and cause them to commit unforced errors (especially for Kevin). With time and guidance from their coaches (Ko Herry IP and Ko Aryono Miranat). Congratulations and well done to Gideon/Kevin for winning the 2016 India Superseries with convincing results 21-17, 21-13 against compatriot Angga PRATAMA/Ricky Karanda SUWARDI. Below are some of the YONEX SUNRISE India Open 2016 (Superseries) men's double winner photos.
Not only Gideon/Kevin not gave away to Angga/Ricky. They snatched it from the beginning. Angga especially Ricky was not in the mood. Their body language did not indicate they want to win the title.
Yes Bro, I am quite surprise to see Angga/Ricky not giving a good fight despite this is their best chance to catch-up and gain more Rio Olympic points. 9200 points for SS champion compared to 7800 points for runner-up is indeed huge different, with 1400 points differences they can make a cut for the automatic no.8 slot.
In the Malaysia SS Premier currently in progress, all 4 INA top MD pairs participating. Hendra/Ahsan, Angga/Ricky, Ryan/Berry and Kevin/Markus.
Hopefully they will make it to the second round and face off against Hendra/Ahsan. Really looking forward to seeing who can control the front court between Hendra and Kevin. Kevin played mind games with the Goh/Tan and Pratama/Suwardi last week and came up on top. I doubt he will be able to do that against "Mr. Cool" Setiwan, I hope that match will be on youtube!
Nobody likes his attitude because he is arrogant? Or because he plays dirty? Many people do not like Marin just because she shouts a lot can you imagine that.
V1lau and indrg are absolutely spot on. Defiant poses, provocative stares, aggressive gestures, rude body language, showboating, etc are a part of competitive sport. Just think boxing. However, if billiards and show-jumping are the sports badminton must emulate, then Sukamuljo is on shaky ground. In any case, Ahsan and Setiawan also showed their juniors who's boss.
The thing with Gideon & Kevin is that they dont do their monkey stuff when facing their own countryman. Yesterday, they were disposed by their seniors in only 26mins. "Padan muka kau.!!"
Probably due to giving their seniors more respect than they should, and also because their more experienced seniors train day in and day out with them, so they would know how to exploit all their weaknesses. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
In professional sports showboating and arrogant attitudes is not something wrong, this is how an athlete gain self-confidence especially in an intense match against their fierce rivals. You can always see showboating and arrogant attitudes in Professional footballers, ATP World Tour Tennis players, Ice Hockey players, NFL & NBA players, MMA fighters, F1 racers and many other sports. Even Olympic Champion and the fastest man on earth, Usain Bolt is considered as arrogant and like to showboating especially after we won a race.
Hmmm... I also have low self confidence. Tomorrow night's games, I'll try shouting like Marin and showboating like Kevin, and I'll see what happens...
l like the way kevin play especially in the front court but he needs to improve his attitude... be like gideon... calm as ice last week india open... vs mas md at the end of the match 20-17 tan/goh having disagreement with the empire regarding the service situation... and kevin is asking for the shuttle from tan several time... if you really want the shuttle... talk to the empire in my opinion.... be at your corner focus on yourself and your partner in the end... tan not even shake hand with kevin
Try it bro, it's useful especially in an "intense match", it will boost your psychology, awareness and fighting spirit......welcome to sport science my friend.
