I got 1500 with LN#1 on a JS-10... wonder what a ZSP would have come up with!

And replace #1 with #3 or AS and the 1600 Hz should not be far...

Yonex always takes 0.02 off their strings, IME; better chance with the LN#3;).

That's interesting. So does that mean the AS is 0.63 instead of 0.61 and the 66um is 0.67 instead of 0.65?

Haven't measured the recent Yonexes, but the ones I have measured have always come in 0.02-ish over.

In fact, only Ashaway, IME, gets it right.

I see. Could you enlighten me on which Yonex ones that come 0.02-ish over?

Tends to be the thin ones - 66, 66M, 66UM, and the like.

Haven't had any Aerosonic to test, though, so I can't comment.

You can check AS, too. Measured it a few days ago @0.63x.

Ashaway gets it right? Don't make me laugh...

    Are you kidding me?

Yonex must be closer to the listed thickness than Ashaway. By a considerable margin.

Is this measured with a tensioned or slack string BTW?

    NS7700: NBG99 @ 22 x 24 = 1127 Hz
    VT5: BG80Power @ 22 x 24 = 1125 Hz
    my 1st JS10: ZM66FP @ 22 x 24 = 1173 Hz
    my 2nd JS10: BG80 @ 30 x 31 = 1331 Hz

Now, I need just to do the laundry...

Why only +1 on the BG80, when you go +2 with the ZM on much lower tension?

BG80 is rough, I'd expect it to be the other way around.

    Pre-tension?

Good question, eagle eye. :) Normally I do always +2lbs as default for all my customers since ages. My own rackets or on special requests I do just +1lbs or square. I had a period when I did +1 for all my customers but get the feedback that something changed in terms of feel, so I switched back to the +2lbs rule. IMO +1lbs plays at the moment best for me. Both JS10 came out at same shape. I did +2lbs on my JS10 and much lower tension because my XD partner want to demo some rackets. She tried my JS10 at 30/31 but was curious how it plays at her set up. So I run for once ZM66FP @22/24 for her:oops:.

    Interesting... :)

I would like to round up a few question and observations about this subject, but will do so in the correct thread.

For now, did you notice any difference in the sound characteristics of the two? (I mean, did one have a cleaner or more crisp sound, with a longer decay).

And did you string with Pre-tension enabled?

    AVP + Gosen G-Tone 5 @ 30lbs = 1385Hz

Comes out a little rounder so I'm going to start putting +2lbs on the cross.

    Tantrum 200 + Gosen G-Tone 5 @ 29/31lbs = 1345Hz

Still rounder than before. The only thing I changed was the side support position, so I'll put that back to where it was before and see how the next one turns out.

How is 1246 for 25x25 for a Thruster K-15 with BG 80. Recently switched to equal ratio.

Seems to be quite high. I would have expected something around 1150-1170 Hz. The TK15 has a standard isometric head, right?

AFAIK TK15 is small head, but let us calculate:

    Transition to my tension: 25lbs + 6lbs = 30lbs = 1246Hz + 180Hz = 1426Hz. Seems high by around 70-90Hz
    Transition to Mark's: 25lbs + 9lbs = 34lbs = 1246Hz + 270 = 1516Hz. Same conclusion.

With all respect, I think it is 2-3lbs over. BG80 is thicker and pings lower than RX110. @s_mair also awaited average 1150-1170Hz which is also a difference of 96...86...76 Hz. So 2-3lbs higher is an objective assessment.
