Although it still took me by surprise, I won't say that it is totally out of the world for Saina to lose. She has never coped with pressure extremely well - she performs well on the Super Series and did well to get a bronze at London, but otherwise I do not really remember her performing very well in extreme pressure situations. That said, let's not take credit away from the Ukraine lass, she deserved that win as Saina was just way too passive today.
dont think she will retire so ealry, the money is getting better fro badminton now, what will she do if she retire ? the next 4 years is going to be gold mine for her
Speaking of which, can the umpire still overrule line judges or is it all up to the challenge system?
saina is too experienced to get stiff and loose a match due to pressure of expectatiobs, I thought the all England and world championships defeat had made her stronger and all but not to be, she still choked under pressure and now all eyes and pressure would be on sindhu because everybody will expect her to win a medal now, sports can be so cruel sometimes.
I hope saina will not even toy with the quitting idea. Her best is yet to come i am pretty sure. I am not a big fan. But she is definitely one of the best in the "obstinate" category...(usually associated with players like okuhara etc)
Draw is out. MD Ivanov/Sozonov - Chai/Hong Goh/Tan - Lee/Yoo Fu/Zhang - Kim/Kim Ellis/Chris - Endo/Hayakawa WD Matsutomo/Takahashi - Woon/Vivian Jung/Shin - Piek/Muskens Polii/Maheswari - Yu/Tang Chang/Lee - Juhl/Pedersen
Mentally fragile today. She was not in her element. That's all. Very very unfortunate . You should see the happiness in Ukrainian's face. She is in absolute delight. This should be her biggest victory of her career i think of any calibre. Pity !. I am waiting for Saina's interview.
