I don't doubt that she might get to the top. But I think most people would deep down think her behavior on court doesn't deserve it. perhaps except for a few Chinese haters. I really cannot see anyone liking Marin for her as a personality.
Indeed, from a commercial point of view, it is also not beneficial for CM to behave like that - look at Floyd Mayweather, who is one of the boxing greats and yet is one of the most despited sporting personalities ever.
Li injured during the last stages of the match when Marin was leading 18-16 in the second game while taking the first game comfortably.
Perhaps the semi final loss is still playing on the mind? So near yet so far. On the hand, the GBR pair could be playing with less burden.
Though in fairness to Marin, who I dislike, it seemed like she was going to win that game and match anyway but LXR landed awkwardly on her leg and did something to her knee at around point 17.

That was different situation. Saina had lost the first set and after first point of second set opponent got injured. Marin and LXR were at the end of very tight set, it is much better to play as usual than think about your opponent's possible injury and possibly lose focus. I remember in tennis Ivan Lendl lost to Michael Chang after Chang got injured. Better safe than sorry. Marin had no information how serious LXR injury could possibly be.
