I hope Wang Yihan is not retiring... She and WSX should stay in the team, till LXR is fit again to play.
Wang Yihan would most likely retire. Wang Shixian, once her masters program starts, will have to juggle between studies and professional badminton in active competition, tough, I think she too will retire soon; if she gets married, then almost definitely. Anyway, I doubt neither WYH nor WSX have the motivation for top level competition. With Li Xueri at most back to full training after three months recovery from her knee operation, it'd be at least six months from now before we see her in competition, and not necessarily match fit for a start. So for the time being, the younger cohort, such as Sun Yu, He Bingjiao and Chen Yufei, including a few others, will have to quickly step up to the plate.

The real question is: will WSX retire? WYH is gone. LXR just had ACL surgery. Now is the perfect time for WSX to take the lead.
Can one of you please translate one or more of the above retirement posts? She's such a great competitor and ambassador to the sport, it would be good to know more...
Sad that she is retiring. She had been consistently playing well since 2009 or so., which is not commonly seen for most WS players. Its no surprise that she is the most successful WS player in terms of winning the most Super Series titles. She was one of those players who revolutionized WS and made it more fast paced and aggressive. I will miss watching her matches, like the one in Uber Cup finals against Sung Ji Hyun in 2012.
Right, this article dated 15th Sep 2016 http://sports.sina.com.cn/others/badmin/2016-09-15/doc-ifxvyqvy6454928.shtml confirms her official retirement. Both articles posted above by badminton-watcher mostly recap her past glories and notable achievements, nothing much that we don't already know.
With WYH retired and LXR out of action for at least 6 months and not able to assume the role of WS1 for maybe several months longer, I think Wang Shixian may be persuaded to carry on for a year or so until the younger cohort is able to take on the mantle. Otherwise, I'd expect WSX to follow suit in retirement soon.
Me too. I started to like WYH after that match against SJH in 2012. Had WYH lost that match against SJH, it would have ended her career then and there. She almost did lose, but she didn't give up. I think three words can best summarise her career: "Just Do It".
http://news.163.com/16/0916/11/C1349BBK00014SEH.html Although she had left the national team, but she will still continues to compete/train with Shanghai team. She have stated her intention to compete in the Chinese national game next year. According to the source, 4 other female players are going to bid farewell to CBA (ZYL, YY, TQ and WSX)
Not unusual as WYH would wish to repay her gratitude to the provincial/municipal team from where she came from. The other four names are as expected as they've either withdrawn and/or not registered for any tournaments in the coming months. I'm actually hoping for Wang Shixian and Chen Long 's wedding announcement soon.
