Hey bro, i happen to have both rackets. But my js12 is 4u. I will not recommend the 3u for doubles unless you have a strong wrist or are used to maneuvering with heavier rackets. Onigiri is very user friendly, gives you good power and does not have the lag when defending. You can read all about it in the onigiri thread. Js12 4u has a solid feel and has good repulsion and power. The power is probably not as much as the onigiri but it makes for it in the speed department. If you arent playing at a level where the ball is too fast for you to handle, i would recommend the onigiri as it gives you the power you need with sufficient speed for defence. But if your game play requires alot of fast returns and defense against fast smashes i would recommend the js12 4u. Not sure how the 3u would compare though. Hope this helps.
It's interesting that the 4U seems to be the preference. With the BS12 I can't even imagine using a 4U. The 3U is already so fast I don't think you would gain anything by going 4U. I guess it's the head weight that does the JS12 in.
Not entirely. The frame deifnitely isn't as aerodynamic as the other Jetspeeds. If anything. I've found this to be the slowest JS in the entire line followed closely by the YYS and Bao and then the JS10(3U) and the rest are pretty much tied. I didn't include the Ahmad though because I have no experience with it.
Maybe I should try and stock up on some BS12s now then. I'll see if I can rent a JS12 4U but I'm honestly not sure what racket can replace the BS12 now.
Not the jetspeed Natsir? Never tried it, but the specs seems similar. Edit: shouldn't have said that just from memory, specs don't look that similar now that I actually look at it. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Yeah, that's what I mean. Closest specs. If Victor remade the YYS with a compact frame like JS10, that would be fast and user friendly.
That shaft may be fine with lower head weight of a compact frame. But frame profile has to be more aerodynamic. BTW what do you think of the shark skin dots on the JS10. Think they help aerodynamics by interrupting laminar airflow as advertised? Think it would have helped speed up the JS12?
I think shark-tec works. My own observations concur at least. Honestly. I think racket technology right now. You shouldn't go down lower 6.8mm for shaft thickness. I personally found that anything lower than that either tends to play too uncomfortable or too whippy no matter the spec. I rather miss the proper stiffness of slightly older rackets.
What was the shaft diameter of the VTZF2? Iirc it was 6.6mm? A shaft can be made stiffer with stiffer material and smaller internal diameter.
Somewhere around there. But I find it still has the same problem as the 6.6mm and 6.4mm shafts that victor is coming out with. They're not...idk how to put it, natural for me.
I know what you mean... the head gets slightly wobbly and wonky when trying to hit an explosive shot.
I'm honestly not a big fan of the 6.8mm shaft either. Despite how accurate they've managed to make it. Something still feels off?
Is Shin back from his time-out as a sorehead? If KSR come back and get partnered with Shin, I eat my hat.
