To be fair, it's been a long time when I judged a string and its tension retention, so I can't compare with any other recent string jobs. But the string lost a lot of the high pitch sound after 1 week (approx. 6 hours play time). String tension is still fine for me, let's see how long it lasts after the "break-in"-time which always results tension drop.
Strings are still moving a little bit, but not as much as VS-850 would.. The texture is indeed a little bit less rough than the BG-80. Maybe it will last longer than BG-80 because it doesn't cut as much as BG-80.

GT5 on a JS10 after about 9 or 10 hrs of play. Can't quite remember the tension it was strung at I just remember it pings around 1200hz

I'm back from Taiwan and Japan. Got some new strings.. namely, more G-Tone 5. Haha. Here's G-Tone 5 (pink) @ 27lbs on a Mizuno Caliber Reg Okuhara edition. 2-knot Paizuan or whatever pattern.

    Hi Visor, Mikomi,

The orgasmic sound you guys are singing for GT5, do you pre-stretch the strings first before it goes on the racket? Honestly, I was color blind on strings until I read your reviews here... so orange is the best here so far?

Not everyone I know likes GT5. But I personally love it, but not by itself now. I prefer using it in a hybrid setup: GT5 + ZM62F. Right now I'm really liking using GT5 for the mains and ZM62F for the crosses. It has a sharp metallic sound with really nice control.

I don't pre-stretch. I just pull the string 3 times before I clamp it. But if I'm stringing well below the racket's tension limit (example: racket rated for 30lbs but I'm aiming for 26lbs tension) I'll just straight up add 2lbs as the target tension, and just pull once and clamp.

Orange and yellow seem best in my experience. No prestretch needed for such a thin string that doesn't creep much after stringing and holds tension rather well... unlike VS850 or BG66UM.

Wow, I didn't even know that string colour will affect the string after play.... I'm currently using yellow LN#1. Should I get the orange or yellow G-Tone 5? Yellow isn't available in MBS only orange... :(

Orange is just as good as yellow.

Normally with most strings, colour doesn't make much difference. But with GT5, somehow white frays prematurely and blue nicks quickly.

Visor, you are spoiling us! :D

Am still testing the yellow and orange these few weeks. White seems to get softer quicker. Orange still crispy....for now.

Hey, I'm an Ultimax fanboy, should I give the GT5 a go? Anyone got anything to add, comparison-wise?

It feels crispier, sounds sharper, has rougher surface for better control, and holds tension better. Better in all aspects imho.

It has the benefit of being cheaper by pack and by reel per 10m too.

I forgot how much cheaper. I guess cheaper by 50cents to 1 dollar per pack.

I don't have the stock for gtone5 now. I am planning to buy next year. I will do hybrid stringing bg 80 for main gtone5 for cross. Hahaha

I am using a light green GT5 now and felt much better than white one. Hell, it makes me want to cut my newly strung BG66UM after using GT5, still, the slight vibration is small put off. Maybe I will do like what Mikomi suggested, hybrid with ZF62.

Okay okay, you've swayed me. Gunna get a few packets to try.

Green for the green Onigiri, orange for the orange :D
